The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

Also,

Audio Advisor is running a trade in program. You can receive $1000 off the Focal Utopia, or $300 off the Focal Elear, by trading in your current headphone afterward. It specifies that you order the one of your choice first; will be charged for it and have it shipped to you. Then you get 30 days to decide if you prefer it over your current headphone, and if so, can send it in to be refunded the amount the promotion specifies. Their only stated stipulation is that the one traded in must be in working order and clean condition.

Curious how stingy they may be on the trade in; will they send most of them back as "not clean" in order to avoid reimbursing people?

Hmmm.... with both having virtually the same price with the promotions, I wonder if a price drop isn't on the way?

EDIT: Amazon has them for $699 as well. Must be labor day sale.

Could you sent Koss Porta Pros? (hopefully I'd like the Focal's better, though I did like the Porta Pros...)

I didn't see any limitations other than what you send in must work and be in clean condition. May want to check their site for some fine print or contact them directly, if you want to be certain.

Every focal dealer is doing the trade in. Headphones need to clean and in original packaging and have an MSRP of $60 or more. That's what we were told on the utopia threa.

May as well just order off of Amazon, then. No trade in required there from the looks of it.

Also wonder if my local Focal dealer is running this promotion. May have to check after work.

I bought the elears at moon audio for $699 and recieved an email with RMA to ship my old headphones for the $300. I'm confused. Is moon audio selling them for $699 without headphone return as well? Am I going to get another $300 if I mail in a headphone? Will they charge me $300 if I don't, bringing the price back to $999. It's not very clear. Another site sells them for $999, and then once you send in your headphones, you get a $300 refund. Adorama is just selling them for $699, period. Is Moon audio selling them for $699, regardless of rebate.

I'm going out on a limb here, but you might want to ask Moon Audio.

From moon's posting here:
  1. Buy a NEW Focal Utopia or Focal Elear
  2. Receive $1000 off the retail price of Focal Utopia headphones or $300 off Focal Elear headphones. **Instant savings from Headphone Trade-in automatically applied at checkout.
  3. Receive an RMA via email upon purchase to send in your old headphones
  4. Send your headphones to Moon Audio with the RMA. Focal will donate to the needy.
  5. Enjoy your new headphones and feel great about your donation.
So my guess is that you are supposed to return your trade it. Probably on the honor system, but could be risky if you don;t send it in.

I didn't see that posting. They squared it away for me. Now, what to send in.

Interesting, they put the price back up. Both headphones had the discounted price this morning. Adorama also has the price back to the original.

Wonder if they only had a limited number of units at the price, or if they did it by mistake without knowing the others were doing a trade in program.

Man, I should have hopped on that when I had the chance :frowning2:

I know, I saw those before purchasing from Moon audio that's why I was under the impression that they were on sale for $699, and there was a rebate. I was hoping for both, that's why I bought from Moon audio. i wonder if I had purchased them from Adorama or Amazon for $699 with no mention of trade in, if they would've honored it. It doesn't matter. $699 is a good price regardless and Moon Audio is even better. Now I'm eyeing that silver dragon. Sounds like the elear will tick off all my wants, except soundstage. I'll see once I get them. The silver dragons may be what the doctor ordered.
