Haven't heard the M50x...but these are for a different application; wireless and definitely bass-heavy which supposedly can be fixed via simple mods or EQ. FWIW, I had a pair which were too dark for me in stock configuration. I gave them to my son which he uses at the gym...very happy with them. I felt they had potential but was too lazy to mod. That said, a guy recently posted in the MDRXB950BT thread that EQ works and I've asked him for the player/tool he uses to EQ plus the settings. Bottom line, I may give them another shot as the wireless function (AptX) and comfort were very good...just need to bring the mids forward and little more sparkle up top.

On the IEMs, I rarely get north of $100, so I can't be of much help except to say that Dunu, 1More, etc. seem to be in the $100 to $200 range and might fit the bill. The Headphonelist is a good reference (http://theheadphonelist.com/headphone_review/1more-triple-driver-in-ear-headphones-review-e1001/).

If I were looking at IEMs in the $100 range right now, I'd be looking at the 1More Triple Driver and the Vsonic GR07 Bass Edition; in the $200 range...the Dunu 2000 or Fidue A83; in the $150 range...Dunu 1000, etc. All of of these seem to be good deals to me at their price points...ymmv.
