They may have gotten a bunch of returns from black friday and it may have taken forever to inspect everything among the mountain of other stuff they have inspect everyday. Amazon seems to be taking a while for a few things here and there.
 
My brother ordered a motherboard right after christmas and they were out of stock of it but still sold it to him. After 2 weeks of it not shipping even though it said it was in stock he contacted support and they said they got a whole bunch of them in the warehouse but were too backlogged to do inventory. Another 2 weeks later they finally sent it out to him.

yup this usually happens. It happened with the original HD598 as well over a year ago, saw a good amount of those on AWD. The only drawback is that it probably doesnt have warranty on those used or open HD598 SE.........

There was on the X2, but I don't recall there being one on the hd598.

Everyone sort of panicked that they had gotten forgeries because the Sennheiser authentication app said they weren't real. Amazon and Sennheiser clarified that was because they were so newly made they weren't in the authentication system yet, the design of the headphone (the black special edition) was very new and only made for Amazon, so there weren't forgeries.
 
All in all, nothing of note was a problem.

YMMV, but I bought one for $151 and I love it.  I took a risk since Amazon has such a good return policy.  I don't think I could have gotten anything better for $150 or less.
