The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

It's the CLASS rating and card TYPE that defines the read/write speed of any given card. Not a single DAP will ever exceed a Class 10 card. It just does not happen. Noticeable differences will occur if you use a card reader to write to the card. Here the limitation is your USB speed. Any USB 3.0 card reader will just slow down if you use a Class 1 card. Even a Class 10 card might not be able to keep up.

Again your music device will never stutter, because a card cannot deliver. If that happens, there is something wrong with your card or your player.

The specs of the card above should be just fine for any player there is. I would not buy it for my camera though.....

Cheers.

Food for thought, 24/192khz 4733kbps (0.6MB/S). Any decent class card really ought to keep up with that. Again take those reviews with a grain of salt and rely on that Amazon return policy.

Patriot, Kingston, Lexar, SanDisk (authentic), and Samsung are my preferred microsd in no particular order. I usually opt for Lexar on EBay as there's less chance to 0 on fakes. Good track record as well

Sorry for the impending derailment, but...

Food for thought, 24/192khz is about ~5mbps.

I thought it was 9.216Mbps/1.152MBps for a bitrate of 9216kbps. If so, then a Class 2 (2MBps minimum) should technically be sufficient.
Well, that's for playback... not transferring your whole library in the least amount of time.

Unless, I'm doing something wrong of course... please correct me.

Brain fart moment, just corrected it. I looked at an album I foolishly bought awhile back from hdtracks. 192khz/24bit is 4733kbps (about .6MBps), even a slow card should keep up.

My Fiio x5.2 simply says Class 10 or better for proper performance which equates to minimum of 10Mbps per second.

So between Minimum of 10 and speed rating of 70mb/s is a huge cushion.  There could be other factors such as how a particular card works with a particular DAP's chipset but ...

"Class 0 cards are those that were designed before the Speed Class Rating was defined by the SD Association. Class 2 SD cards have write speeds of 2 MB per second. Class 4 is 4 Mbps. Class 6 is 6 Mbps, and Class 10 is 10 Mbps and so on.

You may also notice cards with x speed ratings. Each x is equal to 1.2 Mbps. To get the overall speed, multiply the number that comes before x by 1.2 Mbps.

For example, 13x = 16.0 Mbps, 40x = 48.0 Mbps and 66x = 80 Mbps."

And yes before someone else says it:    Forums/Source Components?

The Ultimate Acoustic Filters

Doppler Labs has created a state of the art listening experience. Assembling a team of top sound engineers, industrial designers, musicians, and creatives, the Doppler team dived headfirst into inventing a superior option for hearing protection. After countless iterations, design improvements and acoustical innovations, they created DUBS: advanced tech acoustic filters that reduce the volume without sacrificing the clarity of sound.

^have these and they worked pretty well at my last attended concert and leaf blowing chores.  They are much more comfortable than the Etymotic noise canceling/acoustic filters.  However, it would be nice if the Dubs had interchangeable tip sizes to allow a tighter seal for those with larger ear canals.

This is incorrect for some of the Fiio Players and high-res files.  The X3 II can encounter stuttering or drop outs if the read speed of the card is insufficent due to essentially zero buffer on the player side.  Never say never...
