I think there's a mistake with your answers for the sweepstakes:

Seriously though, I don't see why Beats customers would bother with Westone.  They've already reached the pinnacle of hi-fi audio; I don't see why they would bother with anything lesser.

As long as demand is high for the 600/650, there's no reason for Sennheiser to replace them. Furthermore, it would be dumb to do so, since they're still considered very good cans. A "lesser" replacement could hurt the HD600/650 "brand."

But, with the HD700s coming down in price, and the HD800 still highly esteemed, there is a $1000-hole in their lineup...

That's not always true. Sometimes manufacturers update/replace product models because they have trouble sourcing components.

I got tired of waiting and bought them off ebay a couple of weeks or so ago, new for $55.  As luck would have it, Newegg ran the ~$45 special the very next day.  Didn't have to pay taxes on ebay though so I only ended up spending about $5 more.  I would be happy with the purchase even if they cost much more.
