Is it completely gone or just improved. I've read all the reviews and looked at the photos and it seems like I'd still end up returning them like I did the x1. The x1 was unbearable, if the price becomes right though I'd just end up cutting that band off.

I've never seen this box for the UM3X. Are these some sort of re-releases? Full Compass uploaded a video with a Weston rep on their YouTube channel about these exactly month ago.

Definitely this. If you think 25% would be below their invoice, you'd be shocked at the profit margins on this stuff. What's keeping them from selling at lower price points is agreements not to sell it at a lower price. 

Definitely this!  I bought A LCD-2f from Audiogeeks that was shipped directly from Audeze.  Somebody in shipping included the invoice that should have gone to Audiogeeks in my paperwork.  I know exactly what an LCD-2f costs.  At retail the gross margin is 36%.  Even discounted Audiogeeks made $200 off me.  At what I got the LCD-X there was at least $200 profit for Livesoundwave. They should be able to live with making $200 for a few clicks of a mouse especially if the product is shipped directly from the manufacturer.

Mine is a little round, but maybe yours is on the smaller side! 

 But I do think the issue is the band as it's not a ratchet and depends on the banana hammock to leverage the fit - it just was not a comfortable seal for me. Any way, back to deals.
