I have never seen a rebate that was as complicated and as big a PITA as this one obviously designed to ensure you will make a mistake or forget something so that you won't get the "prepaid card" not redeemable for cash BTW.
I hate rebates too, they are always designed hoping you screw up somewhere and lose out. If I was a consumer affairs politician I would outlaw them.
I own Beyer DT 770s which I am sure don't hold a candle to the 990 pro.  The 770 I bought as a stop gap and almost never use them now, I  guess I should sell them if anyone would buy them, I don't know?

You wouldn't have any problems selling a pair of DT770. IIRC, the DT770 and DT990 use the same driver, the only difference is the DT770 is sealed.

So if you're looking to "upgrade" there wouldn't be a huge difference, other than an open back headphone usually sounds a bit more natural and open.

Got fed up of waiting for a used very good DT990 pros on Amazon UK so just bought a new pair at £105.These are to replace a pair I stupidly sold last year. These were on WH deal but i did sold them at a profit. £20 or so is neither here nor there. Even at full price I think the 990 has to one of the best value headphones imo

Thought someone else might've mentioned it earlier:

Sennheiser HD 449 on sale for $43 shipped from Rakuten.com if you use Visa checkout tonight ($48 + $4.95 shipping - $10 code: VISACHECKOUTPROMO). Visa is giving $10 off orders paid with their system March 16 and 17, so today's the last chance. Amazon has a similar price with free shipping right now. Great gift or starving student headphone, closed-back though with the associated pros and cons.

HD598 is sitting at $149 on Amazon.  According to CCC, this is the lowest it's ever been there except for Black Friday a few months back.

Thanks for this, I used the promo on some Gemini HSR-1000s for $35+tax, apparently these are Takstar Pro 80 rebrands.

Amazon has the ATH-M50x for $169 with a $50 gift card which brings the price to $119.

What gift card you talking about?  If you sign up for amazon visa card?

If so, I'd personally advise against that.  A couple hundred bucks in savings isn't worth opening up a line of credit, imo

*oh, nvm, I see you can get $40 off with coupon code "50xpromo", if thats what you meant...

There was a direct gift card of $50 on purchase not via a credit line. However I don't see it now so I guess that promotion is over.

Sorry if this is too off topic, I can move it if need be.

Anyone have experience returning iems? I got a pair of hifiman re400s and the left driver has sunk (or collapsed) into the housing (within 2 hrs of opening them new) and now it has an almost total channel imbalance. The company (not to be named yet) that I bought it from has not responded to anyone of my emails yet over a period of about 5 days. They do say on their website that returns on iems are a no-go. What do I do? What is reasonable for returning defective iems?
