Noticed RazorDogAudio has B-Stock HE-400s and HE-500s for a decent price:

HE-400 for $245:

HE-500 for $495:

If any of the various RazorDog coupons work, this would be a pretty fantastic deal.

Unless I'm missing something, the coupons only work on certain brands. Hifiman not being one of them

I almost got a pair for my job.  I called a friend who has them and he recommended that I purchase them, so I went back to Amazon to purchase them, however, they were sold out.

On the bright side, my headphone fund isn't shrinking and those Audeze LCD-2 headphones are getting closer in sight.

Let us know how the transaction goes and how you like the HP. Curious to these Sony offerings, they all look the same and look studio HP bland...but the sound is probably very good.

It's listed as $245 without any coupons. I don't think any will work but $245 is still a pretty awesome price.

Edit: Note this doesn't seem to come with the velour pads.

It seemed on the store front that the vendor had a case of these headphones for sale.  I'm not sure if a case of headphones is similar to beer with 24, or who knows what number; but they must have sold quickly.

I did some quick research before I pulled the trigger and most of what I saw was very good mids with vocals that almost seemed right in the room with the listener.  Even saw some comparisons to the DT-48.  I'd suspect something between the V6 and 7520.

Aww damn, you're right:

"other than Audeze, HiFiMAN, KEF, and B stock products are not eligible"

That's for the normal coupons on the front page of the site and I know the other recent ones posted here excluded HiFiMan as well. That's too bad, under $500 for an HE-500 still isn't too bad though.

For any questions you guys should e-mail Brian at @RazorDog directly. He's very helpful and amenable to your needs. No need to speculate on here as to whether something can be had for cheaper, ask the man directly and you'll get your answer.

He's certainly approachable for hassle-free below-market prices, but I don't see the need in this particular case to squeeze/antagonize a small business vendor for an even lower price on an already-solid deal, especially when it's so clearly specified in the terms that promo codes don't apply to these.  He updates those terms regularly to send a clear message - couldn't be any clearer here, IMO.

Open-Box or B-stock hfm planars are just as good as new after a couple swipes with a surface wipe.  HE-400 for $245 w/ Velours & Free Priority Shipping is already effectively over 20% off of the recently-reduced price...  If anybody's interested in those, just take the deal & send him your thanks.  No need to go around lowballing good people.

To be clear. I'm not asking people to hassle Brian or lowball him (re-read what I wrote). What I'm saying is that if you have questions about products RazorDog sells then he's the man to ask instead of this thread. He's very nice and doesn't mind questions.
