Ya, but the random deals have kinda made up for it I feel. First the BA200s at Ross for $25-30, Westone 3 dropping down to $160, the HD800s randomly dropping yesterday to crazy low prices on Amazon, and now this random deal.

Now I'm going to be checking freaking amazon every 5 minutes for an HD800!

Anyways, not sure if this is legit or not, but I just bought a pair of Earsonics S-em6 from this ebay seller for the whopping price of $175 bucks...!

Anyone dealt with this seller in Japan before.  This seems insane....but I've never heard of fake earsonics....

Hopefully the seller doesn't cancel your bid.  It seems the selling price is missing a digit.  Never heard of fakes for any Earsonics model.  If you get them at that price, congrats as it's probably one of the best buy, if not the absolute best in the history of the deal threads.

Don't get me started about the BA200. One I struck gold with one, I've been going to every freaking Ross/Marshals/TJ Maxx in Washington DC area. Haven't found squat after my first find, but I'm still going crazy hehe

I wonder if Razor Dog will match the Amazon price that they were selling for yesterday...

LOL!  I found a Ba100 here in Chicago and have been doing the same thing since...it's getting to an unhealthy point though!  Congrats on finding one, they are fantastic.

They just left me positive feedback....weird.

Most likely not. In fact, I have a sneaking suspicion that that price was showing up on Amazon very rarely and very sporadically so that Amazon could potentially avoid getting a call from Sennheiser saying "Hey! I'm seeing the HD800 listed at just $890! What gives?"

Or maybe sneaky, rare, and sporadic deals don't count as "advertising" the headphone above MAP.

Probably automated and happens automatically once your payment goes through.

Pretty sure they were selling below cost.

I very highly doubt it. Margins are significantly higher on these things than most people realize. If people knew what the actual cost was to Amazon (or god forbid what it costs Sennheiser to manufacture it) it would make lot of people feel angry and cheated but that's just the reality of doing business and its certainly not something that's exclusive to headphones. High end products tend to have even higher margins than low or mid-range ones and even those have a higher margin than the large majority of people realize. If you've ever worked in any sort of retail you've likely seen behind the curtain and have been extremely surprised.

That said, I in no way mean to imply that the HD800, or any other headphone, isn't worth the asking price because of its margins.

I'm just saying I talked to someone in the know who said that Sennheiser freaked out as soon as they saw them listed for that price. And that 900 is definitely below cost... Amazon lost money.

Fair enough but unless that person works for Amazon he likely doesn't know exactly what Amazon's cost is. Typically resellers pay different amounts based on the quantity they are able to push out and Amazon most likely gets these cheaper than any other retailer does because of that.

^ That's also one of the reasons for having a MAP. Selling a headphone at lower than another retailer's cost will reveal to them that you are getting a better deal from Sennheiser than they are and manufacturers don't like that information getting out.
