That's right. The xCAN is only an amplifier while the xDSD is the combo DAC/AMP. There's actually a DAC inside of the xCAN but that only kicks in when using the Bluetooth connection mode.
Sold at that price (and $449 open box) by a company called “Hot Audio”.
Lol. Maybe the open box got damaged when they “fell off a truck” and the seller found them.

Had to buy after reading the following review: "After roughly two weeks of trying ribcage them fit snug without hearing my ears they are an absolute win."
When a pair of iems turn men to poets you can no longer deny their extraordinary ability to affect our understanding of reality.
I must be missing something because you can get a Sony blu ray player bd6700 which has LDAC transmitter for less money. But I suppose if it does not support your particular codec than it is what it is.
In response to the below post: Audiophiles are not stupid. I think they must be exercising loyalty to the community that served them over the years.
But if you are going to charge a lot for a transport, add features like programmable open source platform that has controls over streaming. To this day they don't have a streamer that you can decode bloated audio or multichannel standards like Atmos and DTS-X to down mix to stereo. Headfi people know you can get better 3d imaging without the bloat. I think Apple TV and Google TV have platforms that developers can create apps. Hopefully someone can code an app that tells Netflix to send over the Atmos data and then down mix it to stereo over spdif or coax. Shouldn't be too hard nor take so long to do.

audiophiles are a crazy lot. Often they will pay more for specific things to get perceived greater sound quality. That Cd player sells for $599 new (oops, the v2 sells for $599), so $299 with a 1 year manufacturer warranty is a good deal, as deals go.
