He likely means a budget as in Ramen noodles and/or Campbell's soup.

Don't go there. People will start to expect "audiophile food". You know, eat MY brand of noodles and your bass will open right up. People will be discussing how their bess felt (loose or tight) after various meals. I ate at KFC and my speakers sound crispy. I had jello and now all my sound is colored. Marshmallow make you sound airy. To much pasted and everything is bloated. Spicy food clears of congested sound. Bread can make speaker or headphones sound grainy. Fruit can make music sound juicy. Too much cake? everything sounds puffy. Grilling food ads sizzle to the sound.

I had some Papa Johns and afterwards my mids felt lax and runny.

Bookshelves? Planar Magnetic Tweeter?

If the drop goes well, it'll be $275 shipped. Typically $300 + shipping.

I currently use A5rx-c+Denon X4100's.. would love to get these for surrounds or possibly 2.0 in bedroom.

I have these and love 'em, pretty amazing imaging. As I watched "Birdman" where Keaton comes out of the liquor store and that street guy is singing and the camera is spinning around Keaton, the location of the singer seemed to expand out past the speaker (I was sitting off center).

These are power-hungry though, they didn't sound right off my cheaper speaker amp, but great off my $200 Yamaha speaker with discrete 100 W amps at each channel.

The Westone's are the same older original models. They are new and have a manufacturer's 1 year warranty.

I don't see which post you were referring to... I'm looking for CIEMs, got any?

Great, I'll be on vacation during that day. As if I need to spend more money.

Thanks for the info, but to clarify, you don't have any Custom IEMs, just have (good) Westone Universal-fit IEMs. And a bunch of sales and combo deals with the UIEMS. I see a 15% off coupon (SUMMER1), combos that include a free pair of Bluetooth Jaybirds, and a combo with a Nuforce amp... Which amp? Do these deals stack?http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_i2286_free-headphone-amp-deals.html

I guess it makes sense that custom earpieces need to be ordered straight from the mfr anyway because they need to make them. For everyone else's info, many manufacturers and 3rd party services can make custom tips for UIEMs or offer re-shell conversion services. Westone makes pricier but more comfortable shells because the tips are softer and can flex.

I recently picked up a pair from Newegg.ca with Free shipping from their ebay listing. Fast service. Amazing headphones, ridiculous considering the price.

Having owned the Amperior once prior, and owning a set of HD-25 1-II for a decade, I can say that while the Amperior may lose a bit of the balance the HD-25 has, it has superior definition and clarity top and bottom. They were a bit sharp initially, but seemed to have tamed, well that isn;t entirely true, some tracks are a bit sibilant and sharp with the Amperiors treble.

Note: If you like electronic music, you will especially love this headphone as a portable. It's still a solid all-rounder, and I concur with Tyll's review http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/most-excellent-sennheiser-amperior-and-hd-25-1-ii

I chose the blue, as Sennheiser is only producing the 'Aluminum' edition of the HD-25. The blue will be a bit more rare and they don't stand out as much the silver. They are more like the 'classic' HD-25s.
