I can't help but find it strange that you feel like Variations is better in the bass since it's distinct lack of mid bass is a very common and major complaint for many, and going by the graph it seems to have even less midbass than B3. There's more than plenty of sub bass to cover for it, of course, but unfortunately it doesn't work out like that for me personally.
I was hoping that I'll be able to get something more tonally balanced with little sacrifices in terms of technicalities (and cheaper while at that) with B3, but alas. It was so close, though, it seems. If only upper mids/lower treble were smoother!
