These MUST be the inspiration for Sony’s MDR-V6/7506/CD900ST. I recall eye-ing Pioneer’s relaunch of a new version of these, that looked exactly like MDR’s, but with more silver/accents.

Honestly speaking, the combination of black and gold has always exuded a higher level of class and style, IMO. This is definitely gaudy to a fault, agreed. However, if you squint a little, they actually look halfway decent.

The successor to the Utopia should utilize these colors; something akin to a Radiance, but with more liberal use of yellow-gold accents.

I would love to see Tournaire make this same Utopia in RED and IVORY.

And in regards to Focal’s successors, I’ extremely excited to see the successor to all of the following magnificent first offerings from Focal:
