The Best Gaming Headphones?! =) UNDER ~500 DOLLARS (incl source/amp(if necessary))

The audio technicas are very good for the money, the dt880 is a bit better at positioning, and the Stax Lambdas are the best unless you want to spend over 1k on a Stax O2 or something.  I've owned all of these at one point or another.  I don't care too much for the DT880s for music and the ATs are too colored for music for me, but the Lambdas are fantastic for music as well.

AD700 + Mixamp = Unbeatable Value
DT 880 32 Ohm  + Mixamp = Best All-rounder for Games/Movies/Music

LOL! If those are anything like the R10 then I won't like them.

But seriously the DT880 is a great gaming headphone.

I say the Stax 4070.
Great sound quality and imaging. Plus the closed-back design isolate you from the surroundings, giving you full game focus.

The title clearly states "The Best Gaming Headphones". Nowhere in the title does it say a price range. Simple question, simple answer

these are 1700 bucks on ebay...

Yeah, you got that right!

You asked for "the best", which most often come at a price. If you have a price limitation you should have stated so, although then the suggestions may not be "the best" anymore...

ok i changed the title, but i think the other guy already lectured me just fine!? i need to know if
A. it truly is possible to get stax lambdas 4-500 bucks,
B. if it is really true that the ad900 doesn't have as good of soundstage as the ad700 (best answer probably from someone who had both headphones)
C. anything that would trump those 2 ideas?!

I've heard of people claiming it but at the same time I've read that the difference is negligible.
