Frazey Ford (The Be Good Tanyas), Natalie Merchant, Julia Stone, Frances Black, Dolores O'Riordan, Patricia Barber & Eddi Reader are my favourites.

I didn't know she had solo albums. I'll have to check those out. For me it's her performance of Scattered Leaves that gets me every time. In particular check out her mannerisms as she sings it in this YouTube clip -

Not my normal fare but she has a nice voice. The Piano Guys are locals and they come up with some fun arrangements. Anyway, I was in the mood for something different and ran across this.

Shelby Lynne has been mentioned a couple of times, in this thread, but I just noticed Analogue Productions have released an audiophile recording of her, which may be well worth checking out:
