Whoever it was who mentioned the Malia / Boris Blank "Convergence" album, thank you!!!   I've had it stuck on repeat since I got it.

That was me - it was brought to my attention by a fellow visitor at the Bristol Hi-Fi Show, a few weeks ago. You know when you go to a demo room and ask them to play such-&-such-a-track from the CD you're clutching in your sweaty hands, and the demonstrator starts secretly hyperventilating coz he's scared it'll make his system sound bad in front of a room full of hi-fi nerds

, well... it was one of those moments, and I just happened to be sat in one of the listening chairs at the time

Betty Steeles:

Whilst the style may differ, her voice slightly reminds me of Valeska Steiner, from the oft-mentioned-in-this-thread duo 'Boy':

Another similar voice to Betty Steeles is Bic Runga:

Olivia Millerschin

Regina Spektor:

Allie Moss:

and perhaps also Erin Kathleen Austin, AKA 'OK Sweetheart':

Also see Sophie Madeleine (and others on the same page)

Fiona Bevan

Melody Gardot

And lastly, you might consider Zooey Deschanel

Oh, and defoLiny's recommendation of Meiko may be relevant, too.
