UPDATE:I went bought the hdj-2000 from best buy to listen to them and i have to that im am disappointed. The bass is there but clarity no so much, i dont know if my phone is giving them the power that they need. When i tried to play around with the eq to increase the deepness of the bass it turned out to real muddy

Really?  A bit surprising to hear that considering I have a friend with those very cans, that he only got because I got him hooked on quality cans thanks to my beloved DJ1's

They don't have clarity? That's really a first for me. Among my basshead cans, the HDJ-2000 is definitely one of the cleanest sounding. Did you buy them, or were you testing it at Best Buy?

I can use HDJ-2000 with my phones without much issue. It's really strange that they sound muddy to you.

This is an updated pricelist, based on the list on our first page. If Parall3l can link this page, I will constantly update it with a pricelist once a new basshead can is nominated.

Remember, there can never be too much bass!

What would be your recommendations for something up to $300-ish.  Something with decent mids as vocals play a big part in a lot of music I listen too.  Interested in the AKG K267 and Pioneer HDJ-2000..

Thanks

What are the most popular bass-heavy models at the moment?
I'm looking at Atrio MG7, Sony XB90EX and Yamaha EPH-100 (Although this model seems more neutral than bass heavy)
Also the new JVC triple dynamic models look interesting...
Can somebody enlighten me on what's best?

The JVC FXZ200 need to be added to that list.

The FXZ200 triple dynamics are amazing. They need to be in the ears of every basshead. I bumped up the bass with my ZO2 by 3 notches and it got that strong, lush bass really moving.

Well, the person I was trying to buy the xb700s from turned out to be a scam. Just my luck, huh. I got my monies back, though, so it's all good. Since the rest of the xb700 sales on ebay look fake and they cost a lot on Amazon, I'll probably get them used off of someone on Head-Fi one day.

Hey guys, I just want to ask something. Everyone here thinks beats pro is overpriced but has anyone considered the fact it's completely aluminum. And I think aluminum has a certain value/cost right?

Same thing for the velodyne v true it's aluminum!

Yes, also the Ultrasone Signature line is plastic and they are considered summit-fi.

Also, Sennheiser Amperior is basically an aluminum-cupped version of the HD-25.  I can't tell the difference between them sonically.

IMO, the PRO700MK2 is far superior to the XB700 regarding bass tighness and midrange detail.

yea tight an mid range... one mod ur xb700 for tight bass, 2 get a tube for mid detail :D SOLVED

still though there is NOTHING as "BIG AND THUNDEROUS" as the xb700 so I've stopped looking. Besides I LOVE OPEN CAN BASS!

So is there a dark sub heavy open bass can :D [are teh auzdes sub bass heavy...]

How would you mod it???

There's some felt behind the driver that you take out. It allows the driver to breathe some more and the result is a more open sound.

@Mshenay: the AD900s that I've modded (check sig) may be what you're looking for. The midrange, treble, and soundstage of the AD900 + the bass of the pro700mk2= modded ad900, and then some. Keep in mind that I'm not implying that I'll sell them to you. I'm just giving you some options. I think these headphones are the only dark, open, basshead headphones out there, though. Well, there are other ones (LCD-X), but you'll be paying a grand for them. I did have a chance to listen to the LCD-2, but I didn't have a chance to eq the bass out. Even at high volumes, I could barely feel the bass, but keep in mind that everything was flat. I'm sure that if I had hooked up the headphones to my rig, there would be some bass. As much as my headphones? Probably not.

Even Tyll at inner fidelity said the aluminum cups on the Amperior makes it sound better than hd 25-II because it is stiffer. Plus! He also mentioned aluminum is not cheap, I think.
