@Rancha Note that the Radiance was released at $1300 USD, so the SR7000 is 1/2 that price. Radiance has deeper and more quantity of bass. Both, for me have similar treble, not pronounced and not coloured. If anything, the SR7000s are a tad (and only a tad) darker. Aune has more present mids, so for vocal lovers, a great selling point. Timbre on both is natural and real to me, not plasticky or "fake". Soundstage on the SR7000 is the clear winner!! Both left - right and spherically. Both supremely comfortable and both look great!! It's a genuinely hard question to answer so I'm going to be honest. I love both equally, and both get regular rotations. I started out with 1 open back. I then got another open back. Then I thought I'll just get a closed back in case I need it. I think I'm at about 12 headphones, with no end in sight haha. I love them all and they all have different flavours and sound different on each of my amps. Hope this helps somewhat. How would you compare the Focal Radiance to the SR7000?
Honestly I would love to see if aune can make a two way over-ear (e.g. sr7000 driver and a smaller 0.5" mid-tweeter like the fokus apollo). If they could keep the size under control, they could make one without breaking the bank.I imagine that they can take lessons learned from the AR and SR and make a really awesome mid-fi open back. Hi mate.Hey guys, currently I'm rocking Hifiman Susvara and some Etymotic ERXR4 and ERXR2 iems. All very good in many aspects when it comes to instrument separation, detail, clarity and imaging.
What I have not been able to find yet, is a good pair of headphones that can do all of that, but also project a large holographic sound stage (tall, wide and deep).
On speakers, soundstage scale is often easier to discern. On headphones, I haven't been able to detect the differences too much across electronics, except way back when I compared RME-ADI-2 to Ares II.
Will these SR7000 help me tell soundstage differences between dacs and preamps better? More so than Hifiman Susvara?
Thanks!

I'm literally off to bed now (11:00pm eastern standard time), but will explain in detail tomorrow. A lot to like about both headphones.@andrewchoppa How would you compare the sr7000 with the xtc 2.5?
I tested Sony Z7 m1 and has a big soundstage , also monolith m1060c and m1070c, now waiting for Audeze LCD2 closed back to compare, I had the Aune ar5000 and was a great headphone only light in bass and that was the reason because I sold itHey guys, currently I'm rocking Hifiman Susvara and some Etymotic ERXR4 and ERXR2 iems. How are the monolith headphones? I think the m1070c is a brick (very heavy) but sonically, I heard some really good things.I tested Sony Z7 m1 and has a big soundstage , also monolith m1060c and m1070c, now waiting for Audeze LCD2 closed back to compare, I had the Aune ar5000 and was a great headphone only light in bass and that was the reason because I sold it
Ok, fast forward to morning.@andrewchoppa How would you compare the sr7000 with the xtc 2.5?
this post needs formattingOk, fast forward to morning.
I have actually compared in detail these 2 headphones previously but I'll recap:
Note-XTC 2.5 is almost 3 times more $$, is it 3 times better? No.
Aune SR7000 JM Audio XTC 2.5 Winner
Aesthetics Excellent modern look (close 2nd) Beautiful wood JM
Comfort 9.5/10 can listen for hours 9/10 heavy but still very comfortable Aune
Build 9.5/10 8.5/10 a couple of loose screws Aune
Timbre Natural and realistic Natural and realistic Tie
Soundstage Holographic and large for a closed back Holographic and large for a closed back - excellent JM (close)
Bass Excellent midbass and some good subbass too Massive bass, well controlled and extended low JM
Mids Quality and forward, perfect for vocals. can be a toch V-shaped tuning (my request as JM tunes to
too forward for me on occasion (I love V shaped tunings) customer preference) JM
Treble Ever so slightly recessed but still plenty of upper Mine tuned to slightly too much treble (my mistake) JM (close) frequency information. clear, detailed but definitely not Can be slightly fatiguing on some tracks. , but clarity
shrill or sibilant and detail in spades
Dynamics Excellent punch and slam, energising Excellent punch and slam - extremely energising. Can Tie
almost be too much at times
Separation/ Excellent pinpointing of instruments, without getting Can handle speed metal easily. Excellent separation JM Audio
Clarity muddled. On speed metal, slightly muddled with very
fast passages
Overall Amazing value for $599 USD, one of the best closed Very high quality and well tuned headphones, ability to
back or close to it, under $1000 USD IMO pad roll, look beautiful, sound and detail is amazing
but $1500 USD doesn't represent great value. But
John is a one man business so costs are much higher for
and his headphones are unique
Winner JM Audio has the overall better headphone IMO with beautiful wood cups, better bass and overall soundstage, separation, detail and dynamics
Aune though, for the price, do a very very good closed back (their 1st, too) with soundstage as good as some open backs (JM better again).
Both excellent headphones, with neither leaving my collection anytime soon.
I genuinely look forward with excitement to what both companies will be producing in the future.
Hope this helps!
I know, I had it beautifully in columns when I did it (took ages), but it reverted back to this.............................................disappointing Headfi.......this post needs formatting![]()
Are heavy not so much but too comfortable, sonically I prefer the m1060C, great soundstage more than a Focal open back and great bass , I prefer too many closed headphones, I have the m1570 open and is the best of all the Monolith, I think the closed version of it is a king, actually prefer the m1570 over Focal Elex, Meze 109 pro and others that I haveHow are the monolith headphones? I think the m1070c is a brick (very heavy) but sonically, I heard some really good things.
Thanks for the reply! At that price, I might gove them a go and see. Susvara is very good at most things, but the scale of soundstage is still small, like a small orb just outside your head. I’m comparing to speakers of course. I know the senn hd800 series are supposed to be good, but don’t want to spend that kind of money. SR7000 might be the best bang for buck I’m willing to spend.Hi mate.
First of all - wow Susvara!! When driven properly, these things are magical!
I have the HE1000 Stealths and absolutely love them. I've demoed the Susvara on numerous occasions, borrowed the HE100 SEs and currently have the HE 1000 UVs on loan (haven't listened yet).
Soundstage wise, Hifiman open back planars are (generally) excellent when it comes soundstage, instrument separation, clarity and dynamics.
The Aune SR7000s, despite being a closed back (and let's face it. Hifiman just can't seem to make a decent closed back from what I've read and from friends who have had them and reviewed them), project a really decent holographic soundstage. In my opinion, they best most other closed backs on the market under $1000 USD (no I haven't tried them all) for their wide and deep soundstage. They use a new patented "Dragon-Scale" acoustic prism. Apparently it diffuses out unessary soundwaves, creating a more open-back sound.
On some music, I get a real 3D circular soundstage. Of course, everyone is different, and most importantly (I'm learning this more each day), everyone has a completely different setup, so we all experience different qualities in our gear. I see so many arguments on forums that "you can't possibly hear that" or "why can't you hear what I'm hearing??". One of them usually has a $30 dongle and one has a $10,000 system............of course they're going to hear completely different things!!!
Anyway, I digress...........I think Aune have done an amazing job with their SR700s, with particular reference to the excellent quality soundstage.
Will it be as good as Sus?????? Haven't AB'd them. Sus is open and 7000s are closed. But for $599 USD, they really do represent excellent value!!!!
Hope this helps mate.
