I think it's Koa wood. Earlier this morning I saw THIS, a gent on Reddit who is DIY'ing a set of cups out of mesquite wood with copper inlay. Insanely gorgeous.

Mesquite eh, is he from Texas by chance?

No truer words have ever been spoken to the subjectivity of the hobby Maj, you know the Pod always says we ALL hear them just a little (if not a lot for some) differently. I sit here with this little pile next to my laptop and what am I enjoying at the moment but my little Chi-Fi wonders in the ZSX!

@OldDude04 , sweet looking cans :beerchug:
Totally agree...horses for courses

the hawaiian koa can come off deep rich and dark to bright depending how the light strikes them. threw me for a little loop, mark was very impressed with how they turned out sent me photos, they did look nice and light, then i opened the box for a dark luxurious deep wood.

You can really see the difference in the stock pads and the Monolith pads on the Fostex in these pics. The comfort is so much better without losing the great bass, and I think a bit of stage is added just from distancing my ears from the drivers. I listened to the TH-X00 until past 2am this morning just sat back with a couple Sam Adams, was a damn good night.

You should get the TH900s and compare. I've owned both in the past. The TH900 is just that much better IMO.

I did a cup swap with my TH X00s to a teak cup and it made a big difference. Tightened up the bass and made everything more refined and focused. I looked at Lawton but his caps are astronomically expensive IMO. I found some on Ebay for pennies compared to Lawton. I just wish this guy would have had zebra wood. It's my favorite.

I just said that Mia had good judge of character. My mother in law is a terrible person. All of her children hate her and have moved to the far corners of the Earth to get away from her.

The police and City didn't think as much....
few ...I had to put my joke restraint on when you first mentioned, dog, mother in law and bite ! Shame the dog ended up being the victim eh.

I think I'm going to be doing some cutting and modding as I am prone to do so it probably wouldn't be a real good comparison. But, if I see a set of the TH-900's at a great deal I might have to consider that.

That's Peterek, the guy who is a well known modder and the guy who did the removable cable mod on my pair of TH-X00's. I have both of those saved to my watchlist. Do you have any pics of your 900 with the teak cups?
