The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)

At first I thought the Bamboo was really ugly but I think it's growing on me. Still not sure if it's better or worse than the Rosewood, though.

Maybe I should keep my Rev. 2 for value purposes?

I think the sections of bamboo glued together looks crafty, a good thing and their is said to be more strength with the bamboo. Has anyone had cracking issues with LCD-2?
The grain of the bamboo isn't so attractive, but overall its not ugly, maybe abit of an aquired taste. Anyway I have to live with it cos I bought one.

What I want to know is if the Rosewood option will get the new connectors?

I pretty sure it will. This is a new LCD-2, with the Rosewood now being an optional wood color. Let's hope so.

I frankly do not think the bamboo vs rosewood really matters. Isn't it supposed to be the sound that is important?

I think the buyer is free to have opinions on any aspect of a luxury purchase. I certainly don't mind either, but sound is not the only aspect of a $1,000 headphone. It's paramount, but tantamount concerns such as looks and comfort are still valid when spending that much on headphones.

I think any other wood would have been a better choice.  I hear oak and maple are pretty easy to source

Well, it'd be nice for the connectors to be an option for both, I say. Sound comes first though, for sure. But I wouldn't buy an Easter-Themed LCD-2!

Hey everybody, first time entering this thread, but I'm very close to purchasing a pair of these. So, I've been using my Sennhesier HD650 off a HA-160DS and a WA6 + X-DAC and was wondering how much improvement would the LCD-2 Rev2 would be on my setup, or would I need to get a higher end amp?

With the LCD-2r2 you'll have more clarity, better instrument separation and layering, more focused sound and less bass with improved quality. But don't expect night/day difference. Both HD650 and LCD-2 are great all-rounders. I regret for selling my 650s.
