I had a similar experience with my 240 early.  When I used the cable that came with the 240 it worked.  Suggest you make sure the cable is one that worked before, or is the original from A&K.

Tried mac. It doesn't see the device at all. Windows detects but doesn't recognise

Did it ever work with the MAC?  Did you install the Android Transfer Ap ?

Yes, tried. The program says over and over, connect the Android device, though it's connected

May be there's a way to erase and reinstall whole thing. To go to bootloader, recovery mode as usually in Android devices?

My crackling issue is back on my 240... not sure why, was fine for this entire time until about a week ago and it's really annoying me when I'm using it with my video

Yep. I had issue with cables. The transferring of files was fairly reliable when using the original cable.  But, I lost it.  After using a myriad of cables I tried the LH Labs Lightspeed 1G micros usb cable which I got during one of their never ending campaigns.  I have never had any issue transferring files after starting the use the Lightspeed.  So, the 240 is pretty picky about the cables.

Far too many "issues" for a product at this price point. I sent my AK240SS back ages ago.
