The Astell & Kern AK120

I was lucky enough to be gifted an 2nd (3rd?) hand AK120 Titan the other week. Even though the side transport buttons don't work and there's a problem with the display when the battery's low it plays just fine, is a lovely little DAP and I'd love to keep on using it as a transport through my Mojo. Hey, maybe I'll just get the problems sorted, I thought, but A&K in Europe don't really seem to exist and a quick search around doesn't seem to bring up much in the way of servicing in the UK so unless anyone knows differently I guess I'll keep using it as it is.

Hi. I'm on the quest to find a suitable DAP. Considering all the newer DAP such as iBasso DX160 and Hiby R5, is it still wise to buy a used AK120 ii (consideration on SQ & UI)? What's the best price I could get for a used AK120 ii?

Personnaly I still find the AK120 II very good for his age.
But it's difficult to find it at a good price... Less than 600€.

Regarding to this price, I would buy something else.
For example an AK SR25 (699€ brand new) or something like the M11 Pro stainless steel (same price if my memory is good).

You will get streaming options such as tidal, qobuz, spotify, deezer... Tune in...

How about SR15? Since the price has dropped now with SR25 being in the market, is it a good choice over used AK120 II?

I would personally choose the SR25.
The CPU is better, LDAC is available, Android 9.0,Open Apps (streaming Apps)...
And the battery is 21h playback...

Ak120 II and AK240 are the same product... With really small differences.
Sony Zx1 is totally outdated, I got the Zx2... The old Android was horrible to use, so slow...
anyway, I think the problem is that you want to buy an Ak120 II.
You just try to convince you.
So buy it, give it a try.
As I told few weeks ago, this is a really good dap.
I would not choose this DAP today, but go ahead if you find it at a good price.:)

Anyone tried the USB DAC function of AK120 with Windows 10? the AK120 was detected by my PC (iriver USB DAC) and set it as default but no sound was coming out of the AK120. Tested the AK120 with my iPod Touch Gen 6 and it was working fine so I guess there's something wrong with my PC setting: Any suggestions what to check? Thanks!

Hi,
did you ever found the solution to Win10 no sound problem?

Just replaced the battery on my trusty AK120ti. Looks like AK have pulled the plug on doing this at main agent citing lack of battery availability. Got this one from Germany on eBay for a bit less than £30. Seems to fit and work perfectly, although I don’t expect it to last as long as the original. But if there’s no other choice, what can you do? It’s physically a little smaller than the original but the Ah rating is higher. If you’re looking for one make sure you get the same number as this one. Apparently there are similar batteries on Ali pretending to be AK120 replacements for half the price. But i have seen a review saying they have 3 wires (?) and don’t fit the 120, so be careful.

Hi all, I’m looking for my first DAP, mostly because my old 6th gen iPod doesn’t play FLAC, and has serious battery issues. I found a AK120 for a reasonable price, I think: 399€. Is it still worth?
Thank you.
