The Astell & Kern AK120

Ok, so the 535 would work? Well I like the se846 but at $1k there too much right now, then there's the klipsch x11i at $350 of those would be good?
Budget?  I know this maybe hush, but try skip the low to mid end IEMs like the x7i or 535 will work wonders for the AK120.  I used to listen to mine with the W4R, but once I got myself a pair of K10, the pairing just won't work for me anymore.

No trust me on this: I wasted A LOT of money on mid end before realizing I can use all those money on one or two sets of top IEM.  If you have an eye on the 846, then just do your best to save up for it.  The 535 is ok for the AK120, but you will definitely regret it later.

Ok, so would klipsch x7i or x11i be better then? Why would I regret the 535? I've heard some people say it was a little bassy, I don't have the ak120 yet, I'm going to plan on getting it latter, I have my headphone amp and dac by Schiit that will help drive the IEMs like what was mentioned in the video

It has nothing to do with your Amp/DAC, I am saying that the Klipsch or the 535 is not a good match with the AK120 if you can help it.

p.s. what is that video you keep mentioning?

Ok, so what would be a recomened IEM to use with the ak120? (I'm limited to only using IEMs because I can't get by strong magnets) it's a video on YouTube, I'll try and find the link

Get Noble, IE800, or even save up for the 846.  The bottom line is that you need something more balance (not necessary neutral) for the AK120.

Ok, so the klipsch x7i and x11i wouldn't be good? I've looked at the ie800 but at $600 with no real customizing like the se846, are those reliable? Thank you

Kilpsch is no good (I love my x10 for iPods and such, but not for AKs.)  The IE800 has been around for a long time, and it is like a reference or standard for most people.  If you get the sound right, you don't need tuning.

Ok, thank you, I'll save up for the ie800, so would the shure 535 be any good? The guy even said those are the ones he used. Thanks

The 535 is all right, but sound wise it doesn't have enough treble extension to show you what the AK120 can really offer.  If you absolutely want the 535, get the red LTD version as it has a better treble tune compare to the regular version.  I suggest you also go read up on the IE800 thread.

Thank you, on the ak120, can't I adjust the treble? I'm still stuck on klipsch because of possibly the brand name

You can't get good trebles no matter how much you tune your IEMs if they can't respond well at that frequency.  And Shure, Westone, and UE are all better picks then Klipsch.

Ok, I'm not ready to get the ak120 yet, I'm just trying to find a great pair of IEM under $1k because ultimately the se846 is what I'll get, the highest ohms iem I found is 40-50ohms and that's the klipsh x7i
