I bought one to see. its only 30 USD. worse case I lose 30 which is about equal to a decent lunch. Best case is it works.

I think you should go out for a crappy lunch for jumping the gun. BTW I did get an email from B&H that they have 512GB SD cards. With they right adapter they can go piggy back on the AK units.

may be the way for me to go. I'm buying too many high res titles lately and I don't anticipate slowing down much.

I should caution that you can't use your fancy leather case with this adapter...

I just spoke with my dealer, tedsheadfood, about acquiring the SS version when it is released here in the US. Ted told me he spoke with Jimmy at iriver and the anticipated retail will be $3,000. Jimmy is supposed to find out more about delivery next week.

Am I the only crazy one here thinking about replacing my 240 with an SS version? I'm going to take a big hit selling my old one, but part of me doesn't care ... I want stainless steel!

... and the purported better sound due to the grounding method.

I am actually considering one just for field use.

It will be interesting to see whether the steel chassis brings any sonic benefits over the aluminum one ... I wouldn't be surprised if it turns out to be true. Resonance can affect the sound of components, and there will obviously be a difference here between the two. As to the improved grounding method obtained by the steel chassis, there is validity to this claim based on my experience in high end audio.

Even if there is no sound difference, I will be happy owning a special edition version of a landmark product.

And here we go again...AK is really good. Just tempt us with another grossly overpriced product with less and less justification. Why would they justify the price...we do it ourselves! I honestly really love my RWAK, and I bet the SS brings less change than the RW mod. The only good reason to buy the SS is : I like the look and want a new toy.

I would rather grab a Paw Gold to try something else.
