What is the real battery life of AK240 playing hi rez files? Thank you.

For DSD64 files, it can play 5hrs46mins
For 16bit/44.1kHz files, it can play 9hrs30mins

Was reading on a HongKong local Forum post76.com. Lots of reviews praising AK240, a lot of people mentioned that there aren't really any bad things that they could say about the 240 other than it's price.

Comparison between AK and ZX1:
zx1:ak240
Aesthetics
10:8
SQ
6:10
Price
10:40
UI
10:7

Comparison with HM901:
HM901 better for classical, AK240 better for Pop/Dance

Comparison with AK120:
Basically better all around.

Comparison with X5:
X5 has larger soundstage than 240.

After listening to it for another two days, I do have two "complaints" so far, per se, comparing to AK120:

  • Thick and/or deep male voice: AK120 totally wins in this aspect. AK240 makes it sound a lot more plain, which affects a few songs I love. Fortunately vast majority of my songs are sung by female.
  • I imagine this one shouldn't matter to most people here but it does to me: Erhu, aka Chinese Violin. I enjoy modern music featuring erhu and again, AK240 makes it sound flatter than AK120. It was every emotional on AK120 which I enjoyed so much. A pity.

Now, a plus (in addition to what I posted before). If you love piano music - as in pure piano music - you would love AK240. Truly amazing. It feels like you're sitting on the piano seat with the keyboard playing right in front of you, it's that amazing.

As for classicals, so far I can't tell much difference from AK120 unless it's DSD, which would then be another story (and better be since AK240 got native DSD support). "Crystal clear" should be the right term to describe its DSD, and I can't wait for 4-pin balanced cable to be available for IE800 to see how much more it can impress me.

As a IE800 owner I'm curious about that as well, but I guess these headphones will have to get "hard-modified", as the detacheable cable is not really a "fully detacheable cable", beind the final part hardwired. :\

From my talk with the guys at ALO, they would just resolder and replace the first plug with a 4-pole.   They also provide a cable that would connect to the new plug and provide a balanced 2.5 connector for the AK240.

Just got my new toy 2 hours ago...

I am listing to it with my JH16pro with some DSD ..All I can say is WOW....very comparable to my NAD M51->WA22 ->LCD3 setup at home..

I have never heard my JH16Pro sound so open before...It sounds quite 3D ,the bass is very control with a lot of detail.
Treble is very smooth.

I will try with other headphones and plug it into my speaker set up ( Focal Scala,Classe M600s, Classe CP800) once i can find a line out cable for it and see how it sound.

Design wise the sharp corners on the 240 is actually quite irritating.. it is better with the leather case on...

That is all I have for my inital impression..

Hi guys, back at last.

Just some comparisons from a friend who's been using my AK120 for some time now,

He says the 240 is a very much cleaner sound than the 120, very different for his taste but he likes it and prefers the 240 over the 120. He does miss the warmth of the 120 sometimes but overall the 240 is a keeper.

) of the Graphical UI of the AK240 please ?

Does the AK240 allow to browse through album arts like iTune or (bellow) Calyx ?
