The Altmann Tera Player - Thread

Well the Ref1 and Tera are beautiful pairing...better than with 1plus2 from memory.

Well, I've been spending the past couple of days with the Ref 1 & Tera Player, and I have to agree with Mimouille that it's an excellent pairing. I haven't seen it mentioned as much as the pairing with 1p2, but I guess the Ref 1 is relatively new. :)

We need to ask Jude to give us back the old Tera Player threads.
All the work of all those years been deleted with a single click.
He can keep them locked but to allow us to read and save that precious information about this awesome DAP,we are the community after all who support and built the Head Fi.
Thank you Jude, please let us have them back.

I think you've already given the mods plenty of work.

I can summarize all the preceding threads:

Some people love the simplicity / awesome analog sound / found the right pairing.

Others dislike the lack of screen / pickiness of pairing/ price.

Some others are just haters and should shut up.

Charles designed a wonderful object and is a bit of an original in terms of communication, not always for the best. His price hikes seems random and ridiculous but he forces no one to buy.

The Tera pairs very well with some high impedance BA such as the SE5, some dynamic drivers within the FAD range or other brands, and some hybrids such as Tralucent.

It does NOT pair well with most low impedance multi BA, depending on their impedance curve, as the output caps might entail major bass cut off. Miracles and K3003 are to be avoided. And in general an impedance adapter does not help as it just adds impedance into the chain.

The random function does not work well and the algorithm can be improved by sending it back to Charles (who will also improve other minor stuff for free).

I love my stealth Tera and it helps me get all the girls (even though my stunning looks do help).

musicday loves his Tera A LOT and would marry it given the legal possibility.

The Tera is not perfect but has great qualities and still hold his own today vs. the top DAPs.

Bravo, Mimouille! Well summarized as ever. Thank you! :)

I would add that the way Charles personally closed one of those threads was incredibly original (posted some outrageous german punk video as reply to someone getting on his nerves - it was a lot of fun reading through astonished reactions of forum readers and Charles was banned once and for all for that little outburst - but it's fair to say at least he went out in style

Sigh... I think I mucked up my SD card & corrupted it in the process: I occasional have songs suddenly skip to another track midway thru playback of a song. :(

I am not sure how many Tera owners own this iem, but I just thought I would add this to the collective knowledge base: the ACS T1 pairs well with the Tera Player - it really brings out and complements the organic sig of the Tera Player. The impedance of the T1 is 70 ohms. The characteristic of the T1 is its slight warmth while maintaining very good clarity for a 3 driver iem. I guess this sits very well with the analog sound of the Tera Player.

It may have to do with the fact that the T1 is made in silicon. It's a very sonically pleasing combination indeed.

Oh Kiats. Oh, Oh, Oh. What have you done to me :)
Having just acquired a Roxanne Universal which, by the way, definitely does not match well with the Tera. I thought I'd have a break from buying.
Now I want the ACS T1. Oh well :)
Want, want, want :)

The SE5 impedance is 135 and also silicone, so I guess we have a trend here :D

Indeed, Mike! Lovely resonance because of the mysterious ways sound waves travel through silicon... :)
