If you don't explain yourself, your comment here is pretty much useless.
Why do you think the Amiron is a downgrade relative to K712?

Quoting my post from the Amiron thread.

"Compared to K712 I do not find the sound of Amiron that good. Amiron sounds clearer and it felt like the bass range is better controlled (may be it's the reason for the overall clearer sound?) But overall, I think, the sound produced by the K712 sounds more natural, more accurate, more alive, and more pleasant/easy to listen to. Contrary to Amiron vocals in K712 sounds full and emotional (when appropriate). Different instruments like cymbals, violin, and cello sounds, to my perception, closer to the real thing in K712. And the airiness in K712 which in my opinion is grate, I don't feel that airiness on the Amiron."

I said that my K712 were collecting dust after the arrival of the HD600, that's not the case anymore! After I started enjoying the music rather than analysing it (plus some pipe hits) I realised that the K712's are much more enjoyable to listen to due to the soundstage and spaciousness compared to the HD600's. This makes the K712's sound much more realistic, separation also makes imaging easier to pin point and could not do the same with the HD600's as they felt claustrophobic after using the K712's for a while.

I used to find the HD600's more comfortable as well, but not anymore! since I cut my hair the K712 pads feel much nicer on my head as well as the leather band, I find it more comfortable than the bumps in the HD600's headband. The K712 pads are so nice and warm in winter! They make me feel much more cosy than the HD600's.

The HD600's still have a bit more clarity in the vocals for me and for genres such as rock with 2 guitars I find it definitely more tight , but with the K712's I can enjoy things such as percussions better. When the music is right the K712's are more enjoyable (Bob Marley).

thank you Stanley for turning my frown upside down. Not having the "Made in Austria" stings still , but less.

"Made in China" on other AKGs though...

It's very tempting to say that there might be a difference\improvement, but upon closer inspection it seems to sound the same. I bought it expecting it to sound identical to the default cable (physics and engineering predicts this) but I liked the build first and foremost.
