Have you tried LCD-2 pads? Some guy said that they placed your ear too far from the driver which reduced overall sound quality (which I'd have to hear for myself. I'm almost positive you could get a better seal though--even though the cotton mod has an exceptional seal compared to stock. How would you go about acquiring LCD-2 pads anyways?

Which one is the mod by Curly? The pad stuffing with cotton?

Has anyone compared the sound difference between Curly Mod with cotton and the one where you place a rope all around under de pads?
I've made the rope one and it improves confort since it increases the space to the ears inside the cups. Wondering if it cotton would have a different result.

just got to hear the K550's today. Damn i'm impressed. 
 
Nice soundstage for a closed headphone, plenty of bass, non-fatiguing highs, neutral mids. These were my noob impressions after about 10mins of listening..
 
If I needed another closed headphone, these would probably be it..
 
edit: also got to hear the beats for the first time today. they sounded *pretty* ugly compared to the K550.

I am happy to say that I am officially one of you all now—I am listening to my new (used) K550 as I type this.

I definitely anticipate some tinkering in hopes of finding a better fit, but I am nevertheless looking forward to some serious head-time with this headphone.

I just got my K550 today!
 
I am in a unique position as I am coming from the K551.
 
Like most of you, I did not enjoy the K551 cord and thought the K550 would be a good change.
 
Interesting enough, from all the people that said K550 and K551 sound the same, I have to disagree ! They are very different headphones now I have a chance to try them both and I only had the K550 for less than 2 hours (listening non-stop... :] )
 
I'll update and make a review later!

You're seller audioscape on amazon? I ask because I ordered a used pair on amazon but the seller cancelled my order. :mad:

When was this? I didn't cancel your order, I'll be mailing it out today.

Maybe it was another pair I was selling that I had already sold on head-fi? It's rare but it happens. Don't fret too much.
