Good point, jax.
Please do not exchange burned CDs. Money can be tight, especially in this economy. I think we should allow used CDs, as well. It would be better to have as many people participate as possible. I've been finding used discs for $2-$5, so if you opt for media mail, you should be able to get a disc out for $5-$6.
Another possibility is buying LPs. If you are matched with someone who has a turntable, a LP or two would be great.
You might also want to consider other gifts, which are allowed. CDs are the usual recommendation, but feel free to give something else. If you can build a headphone stand, that would be terrific. I just want to see Head-Fi'ers make real life contact and share the holidays.
I do not want any sort of piracy here. As some may have noticed, there has been a crackdown on filesharing sites lately. Though this is far from one of those, Head-Fi does not need any untoward attention. Let's keep things above board.
As for getting someone a disc they already own, do your homework. Find out what people listen to and send them something out of left field. I'm still trying to figure out what to get, but am leaning towards world music since I don't see many people listening to it around here. But we'll see who I end up with - I'll fine tune my selection.
