I have not compared it with the others but it is rock solid in Windows 8.1. I been using it daily for several months via USB on my Windows 8.1 rig.

So bad news for everyone using this DAC with a Mac. OS X El Capitan, which came out this past week, breaks the drivers for this (and some other audio products to be fair). Now when I play music it either freezes iTunes and/or no sound plays. It's frustrating because it's been very hard to get any information on TEAC about whether or not they plan to release updated drivers. I called them this week and they said they'd get back to me, but they haven't yet. They also said if there is an update it could take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months. I wish they'd just went with the USB Standard so that we wouldn't need drivers. It's scary to know that with any OS update this thing could become a $300 plastic box with no use.

In the mean time I am going to go optical out of my Mac to the DAC, but this means I have to plug and unplug my Xbox when I want to use it. It was more seamless, and probably better sonically, to have the Mac on USB and the Xbox on optical.

For anyone wondering about this DAC working in Windows 10 I can confirm it does. Upon upgrading from 8.1 it continued to work just fine.

I am pleased to report that the problems with this DAC on Mac OS X are fixed as of 10.11.1. It turns out the issue was with El Capitan's handling of USB devices and Apple fixed it. Their software quality control has been pretty poor lately.

I'm the lucky owner of one of these little things, but I have one question (or 2)...

I know it does upsampling to 32bit/192khz, so should I stik to what ever format that is default or should I let my mac/pc do the upsampling?

It shouldn't make a difference, since the DAC will upsample it anyway. I wish there was a way to turn off the upsampling, but there isn't.
