How is the timbre on the sands?

It is ever so slightly edgy at times also depends on what genres, mostly for rock n metal but that mostly applies when you don't have the right source ( cable & tip) match up. I am not exaggerating with that. But once you get the right stuff on the Sands the clarity, detail, Imaging and surprising dynamic aspect of the Sands presentation makes up for any edgy timbre that can be mitigated with a good copper cable Imo.

Its chiseled sound presentation is completely worth the time to get them right for you. Strings sound amazing on the Sands when you get it right. It is not without its faults but more than makes up for it when you got the right stuff matched up with them.

You guys should get a set of these.

These foam tips are what I am using my on Sands I have used them on the Lands as well.. But here is the reason why. All foams are not alike and here is why these foams works so well for me. If you guys look at the graph up top. These foams smoothes some treble frequencies and helps balance out the sound of your Tansio earphones.

Of all the tips Tansio could provide they need to look into a set of these. Highly recommended and will help with that seal effect in your ears if that is happening.

Thank you Dsnuts for the recommendation! Gonna purchase the tips. I followed some suggestion to poke a hole on the stem's eartips with needle but its not working. Still got the vacuum effect.

The treble seems tamed a bit with the Moondrop Mis-Tip, cant wait to try them. FH7 made me immune to brightness and piercing treble. FH7 is my first iem and led me to this forum to read FH7's reviews after seeing FH7 on local shop and wondering why the earphone so expensive. I found out $399 was nothing compared to others lol.

I will post an update later after I purchase the moondrop tips.

Hey guys, i just received the mis-tip today along with balanced cable, i think its thiaudio, the one with modular plug. I have searched the penon cable, no one is selling them, too bad.

After an hour with the land and the new tips, I can say the sound is very good now. The bass is so much better than FH7, but sometimes its too much. Been comparing them on apple dongle through my phone. Still to decide which player to buy within my budget.

Thank you again for the tips! Such a life saver.

In your own experience how did Mis-tips improved sound of your Sands? FH7 user here as well, can confirm Sands definitely is an upgrade. Are you using switches? Too much bass even if bass switch is off? I would say Sands even with bass switch on is pretty balanced, might be that tips are to bassy, I found some indeed can increase bass that it might be too much.

The tips tame down the brightness along with bigger bass. The only downside is sometimes my left ear got hurt using the foam tips. I use 120, i guess I will try 020 later.

Even Sands is an upgrade from FH7?! This iem maker sure knows how to make good iem!

Here is HBB’s graph of my current FD3 with treble filter installed, and the Sands. The Sands have almost identical bass to the Serial (according to this graph). But the Serials have much more intense sub-bass than the FD3 when actually listening to them, How is the bass on the Sands? Quantity/Quality? I think this or the vortex may be my next pickup. 🤔

(Also if anyone has comparisons with serial vs sands)

Update time, so the Fiio M11+ just arrived, put Tansio Land on balanced and it sounds really good! The soundstage really wide and has good depth. Bass detail and texture is really sublime! Vocal is realistic and transparency is great. On the other hand, my Fiio FH7 sounds colder, smaller soundstage and less holographic right now.

Going to sell this Fiio FH7 after this. Time to say good bye, been using them for 6 months.

i tried foam tips from FH7, good fit but less depth on the soundstage and bass was boomier with it, less treble energy.

I've been testing Tansio Mirai Sands along with PAC480 cable. Their technical performance is surprisingly good for this price point, but they can be quite harsh in my opinion. It really depends on what I'm listening to. Only tried 020 mode so far.

If you find them harsh with the PAC480 I can’t imagine what you would say with the stock cable. To me the PAC480 took away everything that makes the Sands special. The stock cable is a little too hot for me though so have settled on the Dunu Amber which to me and with my sources strike the right balance

Tips and sources also makes a big difference for treble presence on the Sands. so try this and that especailly tip rolling. I get a very good sound using Moondrop foams which seems to smooth out the upper trebles a touch and using Effect Audios Eros S cable.
