They are supposed to be identical, but I don't know if they really are. Are they running the same exact firmware? Do the pass the same QC? Who knows...
SMSL Idea definitely has a better interface and looks.
Price difference is pretty small too. Color options alone are worth it IMHO

Ok thanks, I think I'll buy the Idea or Sabaj next month...

I have just received the dac/amp fx-audio dac x6 and it's a nice little machine but I have to use the big 6.5 ( is it?)mm adapter to audio out. The one that was with the takstar pro82 (new version black) does not fit well inside this adapter. In fact, it's so loose sound alters if you move. Not happy about that as they are not made to fit together.

The older white version of the pro82 has a way nicer plug and a different adapter that screws on.

Adapters are not interchangeable.

Still, soundswise, can't fault the pro82.

The 3.5/6.5mm adapter is no longer part of the Pro 82 package.
Some stores include one as a gift.

I got mine from the official takstar audio store this year, and they would be better off not offering them... The adapter is not meant for the type of cable they come with, and it comes across as unprofessional/clumsy, especially compared to the nice jack and perfectly fitting adapter t:hat came with the white version.

A bit of a shame considering the quality of the rest of the package both versions of the pro 82 are known for.

I've tried this "gifted" adapter on many of my 3.5 plugs and there's so much wiggle room that it's pretty much worthless =(

Finally, I'm back from my trip.
No longer limited to the 11 headphones I took

Pro 82 was my main headphone all this time, even though I had a >500$ IEM with me.
Pro 82 really saved me, it was the only full-size over ear headphone I could take in a slim case - and it really paid off!

Finally got my Takstar pro 82s. Despite ordering January 2018 from Music HuHu Store, I seem to have received the old version. Not so happy with that I'll explain through my first impressions:

1. Immediately they are incredibly comfortable. Leagues ahead of m50x.
2. Treble is incredibly sharp and can be sibilant. (due to having the first model) This is even after using 1ply tissue between the ears and drivers and with 1 port open on the bass sliders (It is more piercing than the m50x)
3. The bass is amazing
4. Everything I read about the mids (being neutral with good clarity but lacking "presence") is true. It indeed doesn't sound like you're on the stage/it isn't as forward as m50x (not necessarily a downside).

I will try with other chains but so far I really do not like the treble and wish I received the new model with the more refined and less sibilant treble.

Edit: More AB with m50x - I much prefer how these sound over the m50x in all areas minus the hot treble. Why did they have to send me the old model...

I have 2 of each version, and the old one doesn't sound different to me, treble is pretty much the same.
"New" vs "Old" Pro 82 #1
"New" vs "Old" Pro 82 #2

Sounds like you may be in your "mid-forward" phase, if thick mids mean "presence" to you. If that's the case, your brain can't handle proper treble yet, it will take weeks/months until it will stop bothering you.
I've been through this myself 2.5 years ago, and I'm glad I made the effort.
Using tuning foams may ease the transition:

Also, try a better chain:
