Takstar HF 580 Planar Headphones

Thank you for the elaboration, will this be heard with normal listening or only with a serious critical listening? my cans back ground is HD650, H4xx and Fostex T50RP mk3
Medium to high volume. It's not that bad when lower volumes. Mostly its the canny sound I don't like. My modded HF580 has still that ringing but eliminates almost 100% the floppy and tinny sound and lowers ringing. Maybe some easy inside back dampering is enough. But I haven't tested any easy internal mods yet. All was external. And I recommend tape the front and back with masking tape or washi tape if not going to do any other mods.

@gumisb You actually made own headphone. Impressive work!

Have u tried to add back damper? It could help with midrange and low treble...

Back damper is white paper on waveguide and two layers on metal cover. One layer is very thin cotton an second black tissue.

I don't know how u get that solid response on subbass. Even I updated my test penk 20 Hz s already lowered 5 dB from 50 Hz.

Added silicone around the mic to get better seal.

Takstar has originally very good subbass and bass response. I just trying to not destroy that. I think this is more about my rig and your measurement rig differences. I made below test with unsealed pad and subbass get weaker. My Rig uses ear canal to get closer to human way of hearing but this has some disadvantage like it's less clear to read or more difficult to compare with other. But as long as it allow me to compare results it's perfect.

If your subbass is weak two options without mods. 1. if you're feeding it through tubes, don't, the lows always get screwed up. 2. eq it, these EQ to almost m1060c bass without any mods.

OK. I try different AMP even it should not use tube. My modded HF580 has strong bass but measures very similar on bass side to compared DIYAH Hifiman measurements.

Very interesting. I tried different HP AMP. Ha! I need to update my amp too to better one... Bass response is now better and more like correct one. Any suggestion for better amp that has rca outputs for speaker amp and of course spdif?

Not much difference in burst decay but bass seems to measure now lower. It may be also that my amp is too weak and can't get enough volume. Almost solid line down to 20 Hz. My mic can do only 20Hz-20kHz.

Do you use EQ on HF580?

Yeah, I use the built in shelf EQ on my monolith 788 to boost the low end and it takes very well, but I only turn it on for electronic music, ambient stuff dnb etc.

With no EQ its definitely not bass heavy but running same EQ bass boost the m1060c barely changes while the 580 gets pretty close with a cleaner sounding bass imo.
