Received Kannons today, after 10 days in US customs and another week in NZ customs damn it. (edit - to be clear, I was backer 46, to get a sense of where shipping progress is at)
From first impressions, I think I need new pads (the Brainwavs seem like an easy option), and definitely a haircut regardless.
Keeping a likely imperfect fit in mind, I suspect some of the IEMs I have (eg Campfire things) are just 'better' when it comes to detail and resolution and all that audiophile nonsense - but they should be, that's why I paid considerably more money for them. Although, a warmer source would probably suit the Kannons better than what I've got with me, I'm gonna have to get the Mojo out when I get home.
But that's all irrelevant, really. The bass is what matters. One of my tests for IEMs is the first 10 seconds of this track:
Because it's opening riff is two chords followed a nice low bass hit (~30 Hz). So its a good test to see how low my IEMs can go. Vegas, yeah, as easily as you'd expect. Andromedas, yeah, surprisingly good. Brainwavs new B400, I perceive it but I wonder how much is a combination of expecting it and some order of distortion. My trusty FXH-30 microdrivers that I use on my work PC, no, not at all
.
The Kannons.... hooooolllly expletive. Amazing. Thats what 30 Hz really feels like. These are the real deal. I'm gonna have a blast with these on my PC or other gaming devices.
@FightinJim you're a legend and if/when you manage to get it working on a 'better' open headphone, I'm in day one.
For now I'm just gonna suppress gleeful laughter while
I listen to some DnB some DNB literally massages my skull, wow.
