As the title says I'm looking for a pair of portable headphones with these requirements:
 
* Less than $200
 
* Aesthetically pleasing (to wear out in public, on college campus, and such)
 
* I mainly listen to k-pop with the occasional hip-hop, pop, and dubstep
 
* I'm bass lover myself so I'd like a pair that has a little punch, can go deep (sub-bass), and have some quantity in the mid-bass but not enough to drown out the mids and treble
 
 
I've considered many headphones including:
 
Sony X10 (haven't found much info on these so please enlighten me if you used/owned these)
V-Moda Crossfade M-80/LP (I'm afraid how comfortable they'll be according to the reviews I've read)
ATH-M50 (though I didn't like the looks of it and it doesn't appear to have enough bass for me, looks like a has a flat frequency response)
Soul SL150/SL300
Sol Republic Tracks HD/Ultra/Master
Logitech UE line of headphones
 
Hopefully they're be someone who can push me in the right direction to getting one of these headphones or share their experience with one or more of them. I'm open to suggestions for other headphones too that I didn't list above.
 
 
Before making this post I've read many threads on head-fi but wanted to get more personal input. This post has probably been made many times beforehand so apologize for that. Like I said earlier, Not only am I looking for input for the headphones I listed but I'm open to suggestions for other headphones as well. Thank you for your time

 a pair of sennheiser momentum's would fit your needs like a glove, although you can't get those for less than 300 dollars I'm afraid,
 
what you need for asian, k-j-c-pop is a classical "house" sound, with a particular emphasis good, clean base, mid base and female vocals.
 
in that case you should really look into the current crop of earsuit portables from audio-technica, namely the ATH-ES700, or ATH-ES10.
 
 
also, you should really consider a pair of sennheiser amperiors ( if you can bear the agony).
 
with regards to the headphones you mentioned, I really wouldn't recommend any v-moda's( with the m-80 being the exception) due their overtly exaggerated and bloated bass, butthats just me

.
 
what else....what else....oh, there are also the Denon AH-D1100
 
but i haven't tried those out personally.
 
just a final thought, there are some VERY COMPETENT bassy iems(YAMAHA EPH100--VSONIC GRO7--JVC FXD 80 Z) on the market right now, would you consider them as well?

I would mention the dt 1350 Beyerdynamic as well, one of the best headphones I own, built like a tank, sounds incredible, classy looks. but hurts like a bitch.

Thanks for taking the time to read and answer my thread, I was considering getting IEM's but there was a recent sale at Radioshack and I snagged a pair of Klipsch Image S4's for $20 and they sound great so far after burning them in for about 50 hours or so (I used the JVC HAFX101A since getting them:

Glad to  hear it, I've only owned the s4 for about a week before selling them, It just wasn't my cuppa tea.
 
Just a quick word of advice, if I may be so arrogant, I was really thrown off by your use of the word HEADPHONE, which implied that you were looking for either circumaural, or supra aural cans( large drivers mounted in external cups).

i had a pair for beat around iem's and i agree. i definitly didnt see what all the hype was about

It doesn't matter to me whether I wanted over-ear or on-ear headphones, sorry I forgot to point that out. Although, I believe most portable headphones are on-ear.
 
The ATH-ES700s look quite nice, I'll do some snooping around the forums to find more info on them.
 
Does the size of the driver in IEMs matter in the bass response you get from them? I've never used IEMs with drivers less than 8mm and two of the IEMs you suggested (Yamaha EPH100 and JVC FXD 80 Z) have 6mm drivers. Especially for the Yamahas, would $150 for 6mm drivers have enough bass response for my liking? How do any of these compare to the Klipsch Image S4s?
 
 
Also, do you guys prefer IEMs or portable headphones for general out-of-the-home usage? I forgot to mention that I use my S4s at the gym too so it would be nice if the portable headphone/IEM wouldn't fall off easily.

Having personally owned, both the jvc and yamaha's ( jvc broke), I can certainly vouch for the Quality of the bass of the yamahas, just not the quantity, they don't sound boomy and overpowering, which i really hate, and they really make female vocals sing. they both use microdrivers, so fit may also be an issue if you have smaller ear canals, especially if you are gonna be in the gym where they will more than likely just flop out of your ears.
 
If you are worried that the small drivers won't deliver enough bass, a better choice would be a large diameter bassy IEM, like the JVC HA-FXT90, or the audio-technica ath-ckm99,
 
both really interesting choices and a good buy either way...
 
also the vsonic gro7 I mentioned earlier...
(incidentally, my gym headphones are the sony xba-c10, they absolutely will never fall out
