I currently have the beyer 770/80 and am looking for even more sub bass and that oh so deep rumble. I really wouldn't mind a bit of a spike from 80hz and below. Punchiness is nice but I really like that chesty rumble.

Models that come to mind are:

Vmoda M100s
Sony XB500s (I had the XB1000s and they were horribly muddy, so this may be ruled out)
AKG k550?
AKG k167/k267
AT Pro700MK2
Denon D1100?

If you have owned any of these, or especially 2 of them and can compare PLEASE take the time to compare them so I can rule specific cans in/out of my list above. I don't want any/much mud or sharp upward treble spikes. That said I think I could tolerate a bit of each if the sub bass is amazing.

Thanks.

I have the K550 and the XB500 here.

Unamped, the XB naturally gives more bass, the K550 are definitely the flat sounding ones. Though the K550 sounds much clearer.

With my fiio E17's Bass boost, I can make any headphone rumble on my head. So what do you prefer? A headphone which is CAPABLE of delivering thundering bass or a headphone which NATURALLY bring up the sub bass line?

From what i perceive, the K550 deliver much deeper sub bass than the XB500, though only through my E17.

I would really prefer a natural bass boost, I try to avoid EQ as much as possible (although its quite useful to tailor your sound).

Hmmm I've heard the d2000 next to my 770s. The 2000s are a better sounding can but the 770s have more sub bass than the d2000s.

Thanks, would you say the 770s have even more sub bass than the m100s or 700mk2?
Heya,

D2000
D5000
Mad Dogs with Stax Pads

You're really not going to get more sub-bass with authority without just going to IEM's.

Very best,
