ok i tried to call a local reseller in Europe the sr-l700 headband here is 285 Euro ... i ll skip at that price, hope we can travel soon and i ll pick it up from us

I got mine on some online store for around 150 pounds and it was sent to Australia.
I'll try and dig it up it a lot cheaper than 285 euro.

Those pads on post 45 are not Vesper right ?

Yeah though aren't Vesper, I have moved them to my SR-507. Sound was too dark with those earpads.
I think they are ZMF earpads.

Ok i got the brainwavz pads and mounted them with the socas mod , it is indeed a bit darker and without bigger headband the comfort is not top either on my big head. However not having the ears touching the grill is already a huge bonus . i ll leave them on until Vesper pads arrives.

I can tell that in fact the L300 is an amazing music reproduction monster
I have listened from the last 20/30 years amazing things but the Stax are always special things

I have listen various Stax over last 20/30 years and always love them, I have also lessened most of the TOTL headphones over the years because I always worked in an hi-end store, but I never needed and was a headphone guy.
Now i decided to live daily with ones and chose the L300.
I’m with the original pads and for me is a perfect fit.
Very comfortable and my ears don’t touch in any place, I can use for 4/6h and fell asleep with them
The bass is amazing in extension and punch, crazy detail, very musical, etc...a fantastic experience

Hi i m reading here and there that the srm-252s amp/energizer should be always on as it takes 15 minutes to charge the earspeakers.

Does it mean that it should be just powered , or that the button should be on as well and the green led on ?

As any other model they have to be energized to get great performance.
And the 252 is only on/working when you turn the knob and it lit the green led.

Dust/derbies grill removed “it can be seen in the photo” :
an amazing improvement regarding detail, sound stage, bass control and extension, etc..

External power supply:
a similar improvement in detail, more precise sound stage, bass control, scale, micro dynamics, timbre, etc...

With both updates the L300 reached to amazing levels of musical performance and enjoyment.

My type of music go from classical to heavy metal.
In the next days/week I will compare it with the L500/L700/007/009 and 353/727/006t/700/etc...

i have the original 110v japanese power supply connected to a 220-110 convertor.
Can this affect the sound ?

Yes a little.
As any power supply you will always have better performance with a better one

make sense so far im not using them a lot, i like the out of the box sound signature (a lot) but the comfort is horrible. I ordered the socas mod and brainwavz pad but the sound signature is then too warm and kind of doesnt win against my hd650 , the comfort is then strange as they sit a bit weird on my big head.

So i finally found a cheap provider for the sr-l700 headband and ordered vesper pads, i m pretty sure / hope they will then become every day use headphones,
