Great. I am definitely love to have one. But based on the design, they are not exactly IEM by definition.

If You use The headband You feeling like on ear headphones , i like to use without the headband is exactly like iem , it is a bit big and not so easy to fit In My ears.
Without the headband Sound Quality is much Better , With the headband You hear The bass
Is not so Tight .

The SQ from Sr 001 is more like Stax Sr 007 mk1, i Hope Sr 002 and Sr 003 mk 2
has Better High With the new thin driver like My Sr 009

These are Sr 002 and Srm 002 , they produce as replacement For
Sr 001 and Sr 001 mk2. With Better and thiner driver .

Looks like the ear-insert portions of the IEMs were modified with a slimmer profile, hopefully this will alleviate the long-term discomfort of the previous design. Now if only Comply would design a custom tip for the new Stax portables :wink_face:

I'm doing good, thanks! Yes I think the ones you mentioned in your thread are the ones I had a listen to back in July '12. They were also displayed in last year's Oct '11 Fujiya Show (prototypes then). As you can see from my pix, the amp were SRM-002's, but I didn't find a label on the earphones/earspeakers. Talked to the Stax guys and the ones I had a demo were the SR(M)001 replacements.
 
However, I think the ones I heard in July '12 were still prototypes and not finalised yet.

One could try using earmuffs over them for isolation / sound leakage. I've done something similar with other IEMs, and it worked so-so.

Definitely wont work with these without radically altering the sound, just as holding your hands anywhere near the back of a pair of 'stats alters the sound considerably.  Would be interesting to try though.

I've actually tried the earmuff thing with my SR-003, and it worked so-so (by "other IEMs" I actually meant the SR-003mk1, whoops; also tried them with some FADs).
 
The biggest issue as you say is blocking the airflow, so it takes some work and compromise trying to steer a course between trying to provide some isolation and trying to retain the quality of the sound. The biggest effect I noted was the spatial surround becoming more closed-in and less airy.

If the SR-002 any like the SR-001, there will be some sound leakage, but people just a few feet away would need to really strain to here the music. There is no isolation.  Rather than view this as a weakness or something to be overcome I found this to be a feature, and it's why I purchased a SR-001 several years ago.  It's extremely useful when you are in a setting where you want to listen to music, but you need some situational awareness, and where you don't want everyone bother by the music you are listening to.

I'm interested in this new one, but I have a modified SRM-001 Mk2 with upgraded caps (blackgates and auricaps) and new opamps, which makes the rig sound a lot better, and more like the SRM-1 Mk2 Pro desktop amp driving SR-003.

very interested, I need something like this to compliment my jh13 for times I want to hear my environment. does the upgraded one have balanced signal input by chance? now that would be a mod, stats being balanced by nature it shouldnt be too hard right?

can anyone think of a reason why the SRM-252S could not be modified for battery use? the power requirements arent small, but are completely doable with polymer types. the distortion is 10x lower with the SRM-003 vs SRM-002 thats all =) I can think of a few small dacs that could be fairly easily installed internally and add little or even nothing by way of power drain

I have Information that Sr 002 and Sr 003 mk 2 are the same In ear speaker from Building Quality and specification .

The diferrent is Only on The Jack / Connector to the amplifier

Sr 002 use the same Connector like Sr 001 and Sr 001 mk2 is For portable use With stax amp
Srm 002

Sr 003 mk2 use 5 Pin like Stax Sr 007 mk 2 and Sr 009 is For desktop stax amp Srm 252 s
Or You can use With another stax amp .

My opinion is the same like the reviewer from Stereomojo .

Sr 002 With improvement from the driver With thiner driver , i believe High and detail and separation Will Be Better
