STAX SR-Ω (SR-Omega) '' The Legendary OMEGA ''

@VandyMan

STAX CEO said so, so Its 100% certain. Just like he said, it depends on the Japanese engineers to be fully ready. We not just talking another flagship. We talking about a homage and a statement piece that needs to outdo the original Omega. They can not mess it up.

Funny joke: This new Omega might bankrupt them for the 3rd time :p

@AudiophileJargon

Personally I like the Sony R10 as thee headphone of all time. No competition period. From brand name to history and sound achievement in 1989 means exceptional standards. But are the R10 better than electrostatic? Nope. It just can not compete. Omega vs R10, the R10 will sound dull and low tier.

If it's electrostatic earspeakers alone.

1. Stax 007 MK1
2. Sennheiser HE90

3. Stax Omega
Now why is Omega 3rd place? I Personally like warm, dark headphones. That lush euphoric sound (colour in the sound). So, 007 and HE90 fits that description. HE90 can technically be interchangeable with 007 as number 1/2 spot.

4. HE Audio Jade (not many heard this or a good version so it's not fair, but my pairs are amazing) https://www.head-fi.org/threads/he-...y-pre-hifiman-electrostatic-headphone.844733/

4. 009
5. 009S
6. Shangri-la JR

Bonus* Shangri-la SR is top tier and should be rank in the top five but I heard it for only for 30min. It did sound amazing in what I heard. The JR is a great headphone. Ultra detail.

7. L700
8. HE60
9. Koss 950
10. Jade 2

And the rest in rank are all staxs earspeakers. Such as, lambda Pro, Sigma Pro, lambda 1993, 007mk2, l300 80th edition... etch...

Estats I have listened to are HE1, 009s, voce and various lambdas...

is the new X9000 a side grade or a true successor to the SR-Ω?

No, X9000s are not qualified as the successor to the Omega. I decided to sell my X9000 almost the same day I received it.

They both have good soundstage but X9000s don't have the immediacy, transient, dynamic, and liveness of X9000. I also like the tonality on the Omega a little bit better. In a direct comparison, you will feel everything comes back to life when you listen to the Omega after listening to the X9000.

That's being said, X9000 might be good for pop, EDM, or other modern music. I listen to classical/jazz almost exclusively.
