I'm looking to upgrade to a full pair of headphones (currently have the Klipsch S4 earbuds) and I'm looking to spend around $100.
The headphones I'm currently look at are:
 
Sony MDR7506

I was just curious on what would be the best choice but I'm open to any suggestions

Bass? Neutrality? Highs? Rock? Trance? etc?

Well I mostly listen to Rock, Rap, Alternative, and electronic
 
I'm looking for a bass emphasis but still a good balance

Buy a HD 555 and mod it. Remove the stupid foam behind the driver and cut out the plastic grill.

What would that do? And wouldn't that void the warranty?

That supposedly makes the 555 sound close to the more expensive 595. I get the impression many people here find that's true.
 
Btw are you planning to use the headphones at home?

Hm...well as long as you're not using the headphones in public, open is fine.

A used HD 555 is only like $60-70 on eBay.

I really don't think removing the plastic grill makes it close to the HD600. In terms of detail and clarity, the modded HD555 comes nowhere close to the HD600

the 7506 has pretty good bass for the price range while maintaining decent neutrality. and they're closed
