you think putting foam to cover the screen negates whatever event venting the drivers have?

i was wondering about Big Bill's post about evening out the front and back.. and figured if you just remove the linen cloth in front, then having a more open grill and a bigger chamber in the bag should even out without having to vent..

Saintkeat- when I installed the Coccobolo shells with just the screen and no foam they were a touch bright sometimes, the foam toned them down and rounded out the sound for me...I think everyone is hearing different stuff, try suff and listen and then start over and try other stuff...its a blast!!! I put the EVS Ground Enhancers in mine for the final Cherry on Top...UberBilaGrado's!!!

Bill, I found out what you did the other day about using a dremel. I broke several Mahogany cups using either files, drill bits, or coping saws. Now I just dremel out a notch and use a square file to finish things up.

I got my Beyer headband today and it makes things a bit more comfy. Too bad I can't do any actual listening. I feel like I am not going to find a driver like I need in a timely manner, so hopefully a used pair of SR60's comes up for sale soon. It will be more than I want to pay, but at least I will be back in the game.

Don't despair, buddy.  I'll send you a driver.  Just send me the address.

Just want to point out that this is not true. There is no risk at all in using a DMM to measure the impedance of a driver (or any other delicate component for that matter). A DMM is pretty close to an ideal "infinite resistance" and so the current that flows (whether DC or AC) is negligable. Also, there is nothing wrong with subjecting a driver to DC resistance in general. It just wont do much apart from an initial transient spike.

interesting... I've read elsewhere not to do it, but what you say rings true with my (admittedly small) knowledge of multimeters.

No freakin way, man - BV is the AntiChrist :)

There I was, content to see my savings build each week when I staggered into this thread. Another pair of SR60s, a sharp knife and some felt and its all downhill from there - another week or two and I will be posting Charlie Sheen-style vids cataloging my glue-abuse problem. Do you think I should return that sharp knife to my mum's kitchen cupboard ?

Bilavideo, my ghost will haunt you, dude.

These aren't totally done yet (they also aren't working) but I figured I would give a quick look at what I have been working on since Sunday. I also need to work on making the cables not twisted, thats kind of driving me crazy. I really need a rod lock on there so they don't twist freely.

So these are my version 3 Padauk cups with new cables and a Beyer headband. Once they are finished and working, I will give them the photo shoot they deserve (with an appropriate album backdrop).

Like I said, I can only give mono impressions until I get a new driver. One of the drivers is dead right now. Its killing me too, I really want to listen and enjoy them after all the work I put in.

Ah, sorry - I did see the posts about the dead driver. Really hoping I dont manage to kill anything this weekend - brand new pair of SR60i on the block. You'll be ticked off to know that I threw a pair of SR80s away a couple of months back after they developed a cable problem - drivers, to the best of my knowledge, were absolutely fine.
