Hi,
As I write this, my mind is being shredded to bits from the contradictory and confusing reviews of the HD800 and T1.

In my review of the K702, (http://www.head-fi.org/forum/newestpost/494554) my principal gripe with the AKG was its timid mid-range.

To my ears, it didn’t seem to move much air in that vital mid-band (read clarinets in particular), being a little tilted towards the upper mid-range and low treble.

There seemed to be a certain lack of liveliness to the sound, especially with woodwind ensembles, small quartets and chamber orchestras. However, large scale works like Mahler showed spectacular imaging and I loved just about every aspect of the AKG, except its mid-band where it seemed to need a generous infusion of oxygen!

Now, I have a trio of choices and I am being torn apart amongst these as I have money to buy, at most, one (still not saved enough) and I have no scope to try them all. (There are no shops here in India and sorry, we have no meets here either!)

Studio Mastering engineers like Acix vow by the K702 and Playback Magazine praises the T1 for its balance of accuracy and vividness.

6 moons and Acix criticize the HD800 for sharp treble.

Playback Magazine (AV Guide) also agrees with Acix that the HD800 has a dip in the upper mid-range.

General opinion here praises the T1 for its warmer and more musical voicing and lush mid-range.

Headfonia on the other hand calls the T1 brighter and the HD800 fuller and warmer in the mid-range.

I am not considering the LCD-2 for comfort. (I do not have the right amp either)

The third choice for me is to abandon headphones and buy the Monitor Audio Silver RX1.
