Just opened the box on the Z7, and I had ultrashort adapters ready yesterday to use my Doublehelixcables Type 4 Molecule Elite 8 wire SE cables.  Started with the Silver Peptide as Peter suggested, and my tube amp.  After a couple of songs I switched to my Jolida FX Tube DAC fed Denon 2808, 110wpc, off of speaker taps.  I am hearing a beautiful, holographic sound, with amphitheater type soundstage, precise imaging, very natural vocals, and a nice well balanced sound, but this is not your typical silver or silver coated copper wire.  The Silver Peptide Type 4 Litz, is the best you can buy.....and it really makes this headphone sound like twice it's price.  The fun is just beginning as I also have this same cable in Fusion, plus my Molecule Extreme....who need stock cables, probably won't ever open the cable package.  By the sounds of this headphone with quality cables, I'll be having a fun afternoon.  Some of the best clarity, and airy sound that I have ever heard, they really sound like an open back headphone!

Earth to cute lol. Stoop down to the struggling audiophile level for a second.

Can you take your fancy cables out and tell us how they sound compared to other headphones without fancy cables.

If anyone will bust the myth about how much cables make a difference it is you. I honestly want to buy some really good cables because of you BUT.... there are a lot of us who wont be having them right away.

How good are they stock vs your other headphones stock. Specifically the Vibro stock vs the z7 stock. I really appreciate it!

I won't be listening to the stock cable, today, maybe never, no time for that.  I can't comment any more in this thread about the sound with my DHC cables, because it would just offend others that don't believe in cables (subjective opinion).  But I reakon Sony has the Kimber cables in place for the Z7 for a reason.  I was just blown away at how much better the Z7 sounds off of speaker taps, as I stated above.  I hate the Sony/Nike type image, so these are my first Sony anything.  I was just curious after Peter posted a review on Amazon, you can read his comments, and see his Facebook page for more details.

VS the Vibro, I don't use Zach's stock cable, same for Alpha Dogs and Audeze's!

What I am really trying to boil the pot down to is a simple comparison of z7 vs AD or Vibro that I think would be a good contribution to the thread.

Feel free to comment about your cables. I find it helpful. Again I was joking. I totally believe they make a difference. I was told so by someone who has heard your vibro with the new cables that they made a HUGE difference. I will buy one of those cables myself at some point.

These are really too new to compare them to any other headphones right now, but I did cancel my pre order for the Alpha Prime!

To anyone here with MDR-Z7 that also own MDR 7520... how does it compare?

Now I'm getting more interested. I dig the 7520 and have the AP on order. This sounds like the Z7 is making the leap from AD and ZMF to AP is not worth it. And I, too, am curious about the comparisons to the 7520.

I think I am hearing why Sony used Kimber SPC for their upgrade cable for the Z7, coming in December, I think.  I am using my DHC Silver Hybrid Type 4 Litz 4 wire cable, switched over to it for a while.  Very, very detailed, more clarity than the Silver Peptide, Peptide and Fusion Type 4 wires, the sound is also more dynamic, vocals a little more clear, but I always thought Peter's Silver Hybrid had very good vocals.  This wire is also in his lower tier pricing, so it is more affordable than the Elite wires!
