Sony's New 2014 flagship IEM - XBA Z5

Some have compared the two, and say no, the Z5 isn't exactly $200 better [Considering the Z5's msrp is $699] than the A3, although there is a notable difference in sound quality. Though some have paid as little as $550 for them, depending on where you buy. The Z5 though, needs sufficient burn-in and the PHA-3 to sound its best, so keep that in mind.

Thanks for the links!

The price difference is $230 for the A3 and $440 for the Z5.

Just picked up my A3s, 3 day shipping from Tokyo! How did you XBA-40s die? Now you got me scared about my XBA-4s...

Let us know how you like them!

My 40's just went really low on the left side all of a sudden.

Will do!

Where did you find them for $230? The cheapest ones I looked around where around 280-300 and 500 for the Z5. Thanks!

  Guys, quick questions:

Will the Z5 balanced cable work with the H3 ?

Thanks!

i have one and it's a bit shirt so it does not fit well to make a connection, yes it clicks into place but no sound comes, i have to press on them, but i will later try trimming a bit of the connector where the connection meets the buds

Hows this compared to an IE800?

Hows this compared to an IE800?

For starters the Bass on the Z5 is alot alot more stronger deeper and wider. The Mids on the Z5 is wider thicker and upfront but NOT upfront as the Shure House sound but just as clear. The Treble on the IE800 is sharper but the Z5 is no less detailed but it is not as sharp. Sound Stage on the Z5 is much much wider and deeper. Fit the Z5 is much better well almost every IEM fit is better than the IE800.

I had the IE800 for a while ... was good for a while but it just sounds very thin compared to the likes of the 846 and the Z5. Fit on the IE800 was fiddly .. it had to be exactly right to sound good and for me any moving around just moved it around too much. I like over the ear 846 and comfort of the Z5 way way more.  johnwap55 has described them pretty well.

I really like the sound from the IE800 but yes the Z5 does everything a bit better. I also like the 846 a great BA Driver IEM.

Its what I heard and if another agrees thatrs good and if another doesnt I guess they have both and decided on the other and thats good for them. I use the Z5 twice a week and the other days I use my other IEMs to mix it up.

Right. Thank you for sharing. You may bend me that way, lol.
^^ lol yea no sh%t.. Lol

Well, the IE800 is no slouch.

Thin, huh, interesting. Fiddly I can see though. Well, that makes two people.
