Thanks for pointing out! These look pretty serious especially if you need different connectors. Ran i to the B20SB1, worth it at $200 range?

Never tried those SONY Kimber cables though many on the thread swear by them. I just needed XLR connectors to run balanced on my amp. Just realizing those Arctic Ebay cables went up a whole $100. Were going for $199 for the longest time. Still a great buy at that new price.

I have only tried Sony kimber. It makes the top- less "sharp" you get a more rounded and smooth sound.

Agreed! The stock cables are quite unfortunate. However for an even quicker/neutral presentation, the Kimber Axios cables are hard to beat!

Love the Axios but it must score low on bang for bucks due to the price

I’m not sure that is true. It’s one of our hottest sellers and no one ever asks to return them after they get them. I’ve had people scale through the different versions but I can’t recall anyone wanting to return them as in “they aren’t worth the money to performance”.

There was talk about the Z1R’s being discontinued a few pages back.

I checked on Amazon UK and it had gone from next day delivery a few months back to 1-3 months and now its listed as not in stock. Only a couple of retailers listed it so i called Richer sounds and they can deliver in a week.

So the question is are they being discontinued or not? I’ve been putting off getting them until this apparent news came out so have been ‘forced’ to get them now!

Following on from the cable question, is it better to get from Kimber direct or get the sony one? I assume Sony only has one type of kimber cable but Kimber’s website for the Axios has three so the question is has Sony chosen the one they believe best suits the Z1R?

Also the Kimber ones are copper, mix and silver which would give different listening experiences?

They are all different cables, all four of them.

I would suggest a pure cooper cable. Anything silver would probably accentuate the 10k peak even more.

My problem with Sony Kimber is they are too darn stiff.

Without wanting to debate it, for balance, I'll just throw in my opinion that cables don't make any significant sound difference. But if we expect a particular cable to sound different, we may indeed perceive it to sound different.
