There's a Chinese copy of it for sale on Amazon for like $30-40. Look up "ZS6". It has nearly identical dimensions so you can see if you will like the fit of the Andromedas.

For real!? In Ear headphones to replace HD800S or Z1R? i got to say it is very interesting comment since in ear are much more portable friendly and most of my listening are on trains / walk. Please share more details how can these 'not so known' in ear replace $2K full size headphones and are they really worth to try ? (visiting US in few weeks so have an option to buy them there).

Thanks!

Campfire Andromedas are very well known audiophile IEMs.

Campfire Andromedas are very well known audiophile IEMs.

They are good but over-rated.
They would compete but won't replace any of my universal IEMs in my collection, let alone full size headphones and CIEMs.

I am quite interested in the performance between Z1R and HD820 by being almost the best closed-back headphones in the world. Does anyone have a opinion between these two? Thank you!

They sound different.
Z1R sounds warmer and has more bass. Hd820 sounds tighter with less bass and more extended highs. Hd820 requires more amp power too. I used chord Hugo 2 to drive them both and I do like the sound of both of them.

Although closed back they are completely different in sound characteristics.

What is very noticeable is the wider sound stage on the HD820, but it lacks the low end base signature of the Z1R. Some people find the HD820 treble sibilant depending on your sensitivity to it.

Only after I'm dead and the wife is looking to sell my gear.

Don’t let that happen. Include the Z1R in your WILL so that they go to a good home and the wife can’t sell them.

Make sure she knows what they are or they'll end up with $1 on them at a garage sale.
