Exciting! It's great to see that Sony is still working to improve the WM1A and WM1Z series.

I'm a bit disappointed that it will be using Android. Does that mean there won't be custom firmware like MrWalkman's amazing firmware? If custom firmware is not possible, the important question for me is how will the WM1AM2 and WM1ZM2 in stock firmware sound compared to the WM1A and WM1Z with MrWalkman's firmware? I'm looking forward those comparisons when these new devices get into people's hands.
Android is superior
Battery life is similar

It will be nice! Congratulations! Who knows maybe Sony has their own “new” Android version of MrWalkman firmware?
Disappointed about the output power and larger size, but decent battery life/android 11/DSD Remastering are all enough for me to want to buy it still, lol.

How much more are we talking about? 🙂
Current version not that much but MrWalkman has hinted that his next version might give more

I hate to rain on everyone's parade here but I am disappointed. I figured after 6 years, Sony would improve on S-Master HX further and have higher output power for its devices but no, same old same old. Looks like the earlier post about the 250mW limit of the S-Master HX was right.

Instead, we get android 11 (with which we do not know if Sony has bypassed the Android SRC limit), 0.03% higher copper purity on the 1ZM2, a thicker cable internally for the 1ZM2 and thats kinda it.

With regards to battery life, I hate to say it but Sony probably tested it in ideal lab conditions. I will be legitimately amazed if actual usage reaches that level.

I think I will keep my WM1A and my next upgrade would still be to the WM1Z.

if you can find a WM1Z. And I think that is the point. If you are buying a NW-WM1ZM2 its because there are no more NW-WM1Z left. So you are buying small improvements, but essentially the same product.. just slightly better
