New IEM as well
Thats not a new IEM. That is Sony's custom IEM XJE series only available in Japan and HK. Not sure about the territories but I know its not new.

if you can find a WM1Z. And I think that is the point. If you are buying a NW-WM1ZM2 its because there are no more NW-WM1Z left. So you are buying small improvements, but essentially the same product.. just slightly better
I can probably find it used for a reasonable price. For me a reasonable price must be half of whatever Sony launched it for. For me, I want the WM1Z cos c'mon, what is more 格好いい than a gold walkman?

How much more are we talking about? 🙂
Well, I noticed more power slightly by using MrWalkmans software. There is many things which affect power output. I did message him to get a generalized figure for you.

Basically it’s more already but I’m not sure how much and if it’s the same for every version of MrWalkmans firmware. Currently we have MrWalkmans One, which has 4 firmwares in one. But you have to remember there has been tons of MrWalkmans editions available. All have slightly more power. He sent me a private message about 30 days ago and wanted me to try this “ultimate power” edition that he was brewing up. I told him I’m actually not interested in that much more power. Also it was a little bit scary to me to try that. Though a couple other members did try it with no problems. I just didn’t want to be the test subject. Also you have to remember IEMs are actually getting more efficient.

I have the EarSonics ONYX review coming out tomorrow the 10th, that is roughly 6dB more efficient than the IER-Z1R. And....it sounds a lot like the IER-Z1R, believe it or not.

So really I’m not wanting way more power. I realized that they (Sony) maxed out the technology when they released the original 1A/1Z in 2016. That’s why you have to go to a totally different platform to get more juice, like the DMP-Z1. Actually I’m fine just having the humble TA desktop if I need more juice for full-size headphones.

I just didn’t want less power with the new editions. I mean less than what you can get with the standard Linux 1Z/1A operating system.

If you are serious about power you are going for the DMP-Z1. Otherwise this is a huge improvement in basically everything. The only drawback are for folks who want the Walkman OS rather than android.
-More battery
-Better Display
-USB-C
-Android 11
-Improved internals, shielding, and power delivery

Sony Singapore is notoriously slow to receiving demos. I wont hold my breath for a demo to be available until March. Save your time. Same with all their Xperias, the demos aren't available until the eleventh hour.
