I just updated my a55 with MrWalkman's DMP-A50 mod and I was hoping to get the 10 band eq like on the DMP-Z1. The update seemed to be successful.

Am I missing something?

I have not tried the A50 but the A50R has the 10 band eq and works wonderfully!

Would love to test MK2 on my 1A/MDR-Z7 pair.

I really do like the MDR-Z7MK1 and have it near by. Still what I learned was using too much gear made the understanding of music harder. I’m able to kind of walk the town at night with my eyes closed using only one pair of IEMs and one player? I just kind of know the two.

But there is also a flip-side. Once your totally close to a player and pair of IEMs......the new firmware now gifts you only one single thing.

That single thing is a new and better way to experience an older piece of music you know. And if you know it, then what happens is your shown a grand new world with all that you know taken apart and polished up, then brought up-front for closer inspection.

But it’s all a mental thing. Meaning if it was the MDR-Z7 the person was close to, then it WOULD be the experience I just described!

Yes, his player is a Japan local edition stock. Don’t know if he has it in Chameleon 1Z mode or what firmware he is putting the DMP-Z1MK2 onto........or if it really matters much in the end?

Just J region 3.02. Don’t want to add chameleon or anything of that sort. Just stock plus the DMP mod makes me happy

Correct. Mark 2 is in the 1Z and Mark 1 is in the 1A
