Wanna share with you guys, I know it’s a little out of the topic, but I found amazing drummer cover.

OMG can’t even describe this. Check out her other covers. So much passion and power! Put originals to shame! The younger has surpassed the old. Listening to her works will blow your mind

I’m not even a fan of metal. A treat on 1A/Z on FE fw. Sounds even better on IER-Z1R or EE LX. Enjoy!

She is great!

I use a WMport->micro USB cable, and the "DSD" light is lit on the DAC/amp, so it's a yes.

Check other country sites of Amazon - on prime day, the A55 was under £100 on amazon.de.

Cool, thanks very much - great to get confirmation. I have the NWH10 cable already which slots into the USB cable attached to my DAC/Amp. The main thing putting me off the A55 is the headphone port on the bottom...and no balanced.

For on the go, for its price, and with the modified firmware that changes the sound signature (and brings stuff like 10 band eq, etc.), I think it's definitely a good choice.

It's a charming little thing. Back in the cassette and MiniDisc days, the vast majority of Walkmen sold weren't the DC6 or MZ-RH1, but the ones that came in bright colours and were designed for everyday life. The A55 is the modern incarnation of that :)

I managed to get the FE firmware installed on both players,1a & 1z.I'm listening to the 1z with Atlas out of balanced as I write. The FE is everything I hoped for.Full, balanced, detailed, and the irritating harshness on some tracks treble has been much diminished if not eradicated.Man
y thanks.I sent you a few beers earlier in the day.

I really appreciate it man, and I'm glad you like it! :beers:

Enjoying the sound myself as we speak, while I'm tinkering on the ZX300 update.

Yeah, but how you would explain the described situation?

So it's two exact same cards, one formatted in the player directly, one used in an Android smartphone. The one formatted in the player presents no issue, but the other one freezes the player.

That's why my conclusion would be that it's because of the way the cards are formatted somehow.

Oh yes it was the card, but not in the sense that the hw was at fault. More what data was on it from the previous firmware I suppose.
The card that's in it now it's smaller (only have 21Gb of music and the 256Gb one I had in, was a bit too big for my needs there)
Copied the music onto the 64Gb one and using that one and all is fine.
Btw, none of them was formatted in the player.
And actually I haven't formatted any of the 2, just copied the music over in the smaller card.

I guess if I reformat the 256Gb one and copy over the files, it'll all be good again.

Cheers.

Oh, yes, I didn't mean it was a hardware fault on the card's side, just something related to what's in it maybe, or anything else like that.

I recommend formatting the one that didn't work directly in the player though. It should be the surest way of getting rid of the issue.

Hello,

Newbie here..
I recently purchased a Surfans(iRULU) F20, returned it the next day, bluetooth just failed to connect to my sony bluetooth only speaker, this was a deal breaker for me.
I suppose I should have known better and not gambled on cheap products. Along my research for a quality affordable DAP I can somehow ran across this thread, which lead me to purchase the Sony NW-A55 within the next day. Can't wait.
Should I wait for the new A50 firmware? Or should I load the A50D ?
Should I buy the suggested 128GB card or higher GB works in this unit?
Is the A55 good enough to not require an AMP?
And, best way to connect to some wired speakers when not using my BT XB33's?

Thanks

The update for DMP-A50 (and A50R) should arrive tomorrow, so I would wait for it. It should fix some installation issues that may arise, along with doing an automatic factory reset, in the case of the DMP-A50R mod.

The player can take a microSD of up to 2TB.

Regarding the amp, it depends on the headphones/IEM that you will use, of course.

Regarding connecting it to wired speakers, the 3.5 mm connector works just fine in my opinion.
